I had a text from Mo late last night, basically, Reece is 100% improved. He's aware of what's happening, being cheeky to the Nurses, though the canula (sp?) in his arm hurts, as there's very little flesh for it to "stick into".

I spoke to Maureen at about 10am today.

Reece has had a very good night, & the rehydration process has been successfully completed.

His weight has bounced back, too - 13.3k. So the weight progression over 4 days is 14.5k, 13.5k, 12.5, 13.3k.

His appetite is back, too - he had 4 rounds of toast this morning - almost unheard of, & he's boucing off the walls again.

Stool tests have been taken - he passed his first stool for several days today - but the results of these take 14 days to come through.

So it looks like an infection arose, & he got dehydrated. In fact, they HOPE he got an infection, otherwise, why the rapid dehydration?

He really was in a very bad way - dehydration can be extremely serious, extremely quickly - but once again, cometh the hour, cometh the man, & Reece has amazed us all with a rapid reecovery.

Never underestimate what a perilous existence that boy endures - or his ability to keep bouncing back.

Maureen wants you all to know that every single one of your Messages mean a great deal. Please keep them coming.

And amazingly, news has now come through from Mo that Reece will be allowed home today.

Mo has gone home, collected his Dinosaurs & is whizzing back to Halifax to get him now. Darren spent the night at the Hossie with Reece.

May they all have a peaceful weekend.

Great news Maureen, let's hope he continues to pile on the kilos.

He is having a sleep now, well they both are, he aint great but he is hell of a lot better, give him time and lets hope he absorbs more, he just has to. Tracey asked what can be done to stop it happening, well not a lot really, talk of more lengthening which will make the fluids / foods have to travel further before they exit his bowel, but possibly that is all. Obv the restricted diet did not help. First sign of this recurring and we are off back in. Lets hope that it was just a bug and nothing else, he has kept breaky and a light lunch down but has poo'd twice this am which is not unusual for him. Up to 4 / 5 a day is to be expected plus more if he returns to eating more. Great to have him home but I am on lates tonight and really have to go to work, can't risk losing my job. I get tomorrow off so hopefully if all is well we may get a barby goiing, he'll like that.

Bounce-backability.

This is our man - today!

A great end to what has not been the best of weeks.

Nice one, Reece.

Reece took poorly over the weekend and we had him admitted to Calderdale hospital. This morning he was transfered to Manchester for tests on his veins to see how many main ones he has that can be used. Tomorow he is being operated on. It is anticipated that it may bee very awkward to insert a new line plus he is not in best of shape. To me or you a new line would be a relativlly simple proceedure but not to Reece with how is is.  He will then return to TPN. Can not descibe how I feel devasted is one feeling worrie and lots of other tension and issues to contend with.  Thanks Tom and Tony for continued support.

Oh my, Maureen, that's such a worry.

I was discussing Reece with both Tom & Dewi at the weekend, & we all hoped his latest crisis has been overcome.

The good vibes are in transit. Hope tomorrow goes well.

I guess Reece is very down again, in his mind?
