I gather Reece had his big check-up on Monday at Leeds, very important, because he has been off TPN for 3 weeks.

The news was quite spectacular - Reece MAY not have to go back on TPN ever again!

Maureen is too excited to think clearly right now, hardly believing it is true, & worried that it is not, as one might expect. She is full of fear that he may have to go back on it - what a mixed emotion it must be? - he's OFF TPN, after all these years, but the worry he may have to go back on is all the more daunting now.

The near-term hope - the next 6 months is that he can survive on "gastro feeds", & then, in October, whisper it quietly, he may be able to manage without even them.

He is now looked after, medically, by Mr Puntis, in Leeds, what an uptick there has been in Reece's progress since that dreadfully difficult move across from Manchester. At the time, Maureen fretted that it might be a bad decision, but the bet has paid off, handsomely.

For those late to the story, young Reece has had severe problems all of his short life, & endured - literally, I think - hundreds of surgical operations. He could not absorb nutrient, & his weight was pitifully low - early last year it was near impossible to keep him north of 12kg, but he's really putting on weight & substance now.

Hard to believe that on New Years Eve 2004, he had to be resuscitated, &, to be honest, few believed, in the following years, that he would be able to live a normal life. He's now doing more than surviving, he's prospering.

He's quite the bravest lad I've ever known, & Maureen, Darren & Stacey's lives have been wholly dominated by the boy's challenges.

Arguably, it's the greatest story blonde has ever known, & it's incredibly touching that he has been morally supported & financially helped by so many of the blondes.

Fingers crossed, the long-term dream of taking him to Disneyland in Florida is about to happen. It's an incredibly expensive trip, because of Reece's condition, but so many blondes have donated in different ways, & Maureen is lost for words as to how to thank them. She has no need.

Here's the young man yesterday. Looking good, eh?

He never ceases to amaze me.

Oh man - absolutely delighted for ye!!!

Can understand the hesitation in getting excited because he sure has been through it and back...and you've all been there too.  But I can't help getting a bit giddy at this news.  Really am delighted.  Hugs to the wee man and the rest of ya.  xx
