New year is fine as long as you got something to look forward to and no loss to be reminded of. Hogmany is a wonderful time in the right circumstances:) Happy new year when it comes everyone:)

I don't "hate it", but I don't celebrate it either, I'm the same with chrimbo. I'm a solitary soul, quite happy with my own company, & I especially dislike the company of loud boorish drunks, so I generally stay at home alone on NYE, & it's just a regular night for me. I'm a bit weird, I pretty much think every day of the year is Christmas Day - except Christmas Day!
Each to their own.
But a Happy & Healthy New Year to one & all.

If you don't have that sudden urge to go out and celebrate the changing of a digit on the calendar you are accused of being a mardy mustard,
Life is so much easier when you don't care what other people think.

helpful tip ..
at about 8.30 forward all clocks to 11.15pm con the kids into thinking it is now the run up ... set your mobile alarm and tell them that its midnight .... get them to bed, open JD have a few nips and do your best to get into bed by 10 past the real midnight.
Job done.

Never celebrated it before as never really had anything to look forward to!!
But 07 has been a very strange year and to be honest i'll be glad to see the back of it (split with my girlfriend of 10 years who i shared a nice house with to now living in a house share with 4 people i've never met)
But 08 is gonna be alot better i feel, as of the 4 total strangers in my downscaled living i have fallen in love with one of them (yes it is a woman) and we have some big plans for this year which i truely hope come off.
So even if you don't celebrate NY i'm wishing you all the best for 08

Blimey, what a depressing lot!!
New years eve is awesome, best night out of the whole year.
You get to meet up with your pals, the only night of the year when everyone actually shows up, get drunk, loud and boorish and nobody cares.
Then at midnight you get to kiss all the fit birds (maybe a little grope too), HEAVEN!!
All in Fancy dress again this year and the girls are going as cavegirls wahoo!!
Happy New Year all!!!
Even the mardy mustards

I'm not a fan of NYE I offered to have my kids tonight to store up a few brownie points from she who used to be obeyed. They'll stay up with me (Popcorn and DVD night I think) as a treat but 2 of the 3 will fall asleep before midnight, best guess!

Our front door will be open and family and friends come and go as they please. It's kinda of the 'base camp' for everyone on the night, but we don't call it a house party, as such. Some head to the pub for an hour or two before midnight and others just land to ours. Kitchen is packed with all kinds of nibbles and snacks. We'll have a decent stock of alco and non alco drinks, but most usually bring something to add to the stash. At midnight the front yard is packed with children and adults while hubby and I do a fireworks display...weather permitting. After that, we just chill out with whoever is here. Kids in the sitting room watching movies or playing the wii and adults in the kitchen playing darts or cards. No fights, sloppy drunks or unbearable crowds. Just a handful of families (and the odd stray) enjoying the night together...bliss!!!

I have to do what my other half wants, which could mean a loud boorish party with boorish drunks, all of whom I won't know. Ugh. I wish I could stay in with tikay and talk about trains.
