£150 freezout, 7.5k chips 40min levels -140 runners ....antes kicked in at 300/600 50.... we are at 800/1600 100 level. 40 players left - average is 25k ish i have just above average

bit of background on the 2 players im involved with in this hand. player 1. quite active-hes called a massive raise on the river after flopping a flush when the board has paired last card against graham clarkson (ept finalist london 2006) this leaves him a 3rd of his starting stack in level 2. clarkson had aces full

he continues to play a lot of pots to build back up again , the first hand i get a chance to play is after 20 mins(remeber i dont have the above info at this stage) and raise with jj in the cut off i get 2 callers sb and player 1 in the bb flop comes 10107 2 spades...check check i bet near enough the pot....fold... player 1 calls turn is the 3 of spades...he checks i check behind....river comes a king...he instantly bets out 1.5 times the pot.... now obviously i cant beat much here but after thinkin the hand through , i put him on aq with a spade - pair smaller than jacks or 89....i sat for a good while maybe 2-3 mins then said " right i put u on 89 i call" he tapped the table and tried to muck ...i asked to see them and right enough he had 89 one of my better reads lol

so we have been playing for 4hrs ish and player 1 has raised with pish 1st or 2nd to act a few times to keep himself alive and above average and showed once the antes have kicked in , 4 hands before the hand in question hes doubled up winning a race with 88 v aj to get him to 25k which is average

onto player 2. this  guy has  just moved to the table with 45k up untill this hand we have played 6 hands at the table hes been in every pot either limping or a standard raise won 3 of them so he has the same stack he arrived with. on the 3rd time him came into the pot i shoved on the button with nonsence an he passed.

now hand in question. im in the cut off , player 1 raises to 4k  utg...player 2 ..2 to his left flat calls....i have q10 spades...to be honest i dont really think what i have matters that much unless i have a monster....for me with the info as ive described above i thought this could be a great time to jam it in. i asked player 1 for a count he said 14k ...now i know he has a better than average hand , as i asked him player 2 didnt look that keen on playing the hand out. at this point as long as i can get player 1 to pass theres no way player 2 can call..or so i thought lol..but as soon as he said ive 14k bk i thought well im gonna pass cos hes gonna stick it in anyway...then he said no ive got 19.5k ..now with me have 27ish total if i jam here there no way he can call with anything other than qq+ and with the way player 2 has been playing that 4k of his just looks like dead money....so given all that i jam it in....player 1 puts me through the ringer and eventually calls with kk f*** knows why he took so long lol and to my amazment player 2 calls with aq ...hits a aa2 flop and im done

so what would the pros do? is this a standard spot to jam it in? or just pass it up and wait for a better spot still having average chips and a weakish table

cheers

I would pass the 2 players you have described seem quite loose and I don't trust them to pass enough of their range for the squeeze to be effective. Maybe an idea to leave the result out as I feel like a touch results orientated knowing what they had.

I don't think at this point you need to making these plays mate especially if you have an average stack, with a decent structure you can pick a better spot and wait for your monsters to get paid off with such a loose table.

Pass for me too.  Much better spots for much better plays.  Saying that, I've done worse in worse spots.

An UTG raiser is not the person you want to be jamming on

QT with 27BBs against 2 player showing strength both in early position? How can this be anything but a fold? Thinking you will only be called by QQ+ is crazy and UTGs range is probably JJ+ and AK anyway.

whos got 27bb? and how is it crazy to think that you will ONLY get called qq+? what else can you passibly call with for ur whole tourney ? if im in his spot the only hands i can call off all my chips with is maybe qq, kk and aa. fold jj and ak there and im playing it like i have kk or aa. player 2 made a ridiculous call with aq.

looking back i should have folded but at the time givinn the info i had i thought it was a more reasonable spot to pick up 10k

if your in his spor maybe

but he has already recently gotten all in with 88 for about 12k he only has a little more than that back

his range is alot bigger than yours

its an easy fold

You have a whole lot wider range then KK-AA obv. People love making squeeze plays here. It's a fairly standard tournament play. Against a lot of decent opposition my calling range is a whole lot wider then QQ+, thats for sure
