I pick up about 2000 internet cache files a day, even when I'm not browsing, I have good spyware and virus protection
Where do they come from, are they a prob?
I clear them out regularly

Well what type of file are they? If you you view a page with 20 graphic images each one is seperate file.
If you go to Tools/Internet Options/Settings you can limit the amount disk space allocated to the cache.

No.
Dummies guide to cache files:
Everything you browse on the web needs to be downloaded in order to be displayed. A web page may contain many pieces, from the markup language text used to describe the page, down to every script and media object used within the page. They are downloaded into a temporary cache. Which doubles as a way to quickly display a page you have previously visited without needing to re-download its content. Not such a big deal in this age of uncapped broadband broswing. And obviously this relies on the cache not having been emptied or overwritten. Pages can also force a browser to fetch fresh copies of itself or its contents by using tags within the page.
The idea of cache is not limited to internet browsing. Your CPU will have a local cache memory in order to store commonly used data instead of having to fetch it from your slow RAM every time its needed.
Anyway, its nothing to worry about unless you don't want MRS RED or any kiddies to find out what porn sites you have been perusing.

It is wise to periodcally (every couple of months) delete your cache files as IE will sometimes not work properly if these files are left to build up.
