Matt

are some of the Ladies put in by the Organisers or do all players have to stump up (sponsored or not)?

I did ask, but to be honest I can't remember the answer (if they indeed did give me one).. But, I think we can be pretty sure that players like Danielle Lloyd etc are put in for free. Infact, probably all the players in the Celeb Heat are put in for free and those in the other heats have to buy-in direct (themselves or through a sponsor)

Is this the semi final ?
There was no semi final in this comp. Just heats and then the final.

This is the 4th of 6 heats I think.

So basically there are 6 semis and a final?

Could call it that I guess. They officially call the first six games "The Heats" and the final "The Final".

thank you

if that is the case, doesn't this make a mockery of the event?

or would the viewing figures of the celeb heat comfortably exceed the figures of the "sensible" heats by the more talented players to justify this in terms of greater ad fees?

I think almost all Matchroom events have a Celebrity Heat. Maybe even Poker Million, though I'm not 100% sure on that. The European Open, World Open, UK Open (and whatever other open you can think of) all have Celeb heats though.

The Celeb heat is like a preliminary qualifying round. The winner of this goes into the Heats proper. So, in this event, for a Celeb to win the whole thing they have to win 3 games. The non-celebs have to win just 2 games to win the whole thing.

Aha, so why is Danielle Lloyd in this heat and not the Celeb heat?.. She didn't win the Celeb heat (that was won by Kara Scott)...

I'm pretty sure she would have been put in to this heat for free though. Though that seems a little unfair on the other Celebs who had to battle through another game.

Yes the Poker Million has a celeb heat

I just think its slightly strange in general to have celeb heats...the programmes generally go out late where casual viewers are going to be in short supply and most viewers are going to want to see talented players not just some actor/model/whatever

If we want to see that we can watch celebrity poker either from the US or various UK formats

with only 6 heats, I think it would add more credibility to a Matchroom event to attract the best possible eligible talent (in this case female) rather than waste 6 (albeit preliminary) spots on beginners and no-hopers

Aye, kind of agree, though one player in the Celeb Heat was Kara Scott - imo a pretty talented player.

although Helen Chamberlain and Matthew Stevens would disagree with me, but both were coached to a high level by Marty Wilson before and after their success

My point refers to those celebs who have not had that coaching

accepted, I refer to the "Danielle Lloyd" type celeb not the celebs who can play to a good standard (they are vastly outnumbered in these line ups)
