Get a program called Nero and it will convert it and burn it for you,

Nero would take an eternity to convert a 6 hour long avi to dvd!!!

There are plenty of free avi to dvd converters that will do it quicker.

TBH, I would just burn the avi's as a data disk and get a divx compatible dvd player (about £30).

You should be able to fit 2 hours avi onto a single cdr

No

mpeg = svcd/vcd format

DVD format is entirely different.

How many files do you have? I assume it is not just one file 6 hours long?

Seriously Daniel.

Easiest solution is to buy a div-x compatible dvd player (mine is a good make and only £30)

Then burn each file onto a CDR as a data disk (5.5p each for decent quality).

Your Div-x compatible dvd player will then play them.

If you then want anything on DVD , just buy a DVD recorder and record while watching the Divx.

Thats what I do, saves messing around with converting files and burning DVD's from the PC.

They all take ages, the difference is negligable when you do it overnight.
I said use nero because it's the simplest way is all.

Your welcome

You should be able to pick up a nice dvd player in the sales Wink

Just make sure it is Div-x compatible.

Tip - when you watch your first Divx on a Divx compatible DVD player, dont be suprised if nothing happens at first, they take a few seconds to start playing - you'll get used to it Wink

IFM

Most "uploaded" movie files are in avi format (ie Div-x).

Really is no need to mess around converting them, now DVD players are being made Div-x compatible.

The cost of a Div-x compatible DVD player will be alot less than the cost of buying DVDr's as opposed to CDR's
