Check out the William Hill TV thingy from 18 months or so ago that was on Sky, with Johnny Lodden and Esfandiari playing some great poker. It created in this viewer a feeling that the players had room to play as well as a sense of changing dynamics through the heat. 8 handed tables I suspect had something to do with that.

It was also the fact that particular tournament had proper deepstacks and long clocks for a sit and go. There was plenty of play. They only filmed one game a day (which may have gone on for hours). Look at the Matchroom Party schedule Tikay posted on another thread - you'll see they play two games a day...

The original LNP was the absolute daddy of poker shows

You do yourself a disservice sir. LNP may have been the daddy, but you raised its greatest son.

thank you v much.

I can understand filming more than one show a day as that was where a lot of the expense went in filming the Will Hill Grand Prix but to have the structure I wanted we estimated between 6-8 hours of play per heat so it had to be one show per day. I think the longest we had was the heat that finished with a heads up between Stu Fox and Martin Wendt in series two that started at around 13.30 and finished at 23.30 with lunch and tea breaks.

I was actually thinking last week how the whole ethos of the tourney was to allow good players time to play good poker. Looking back at what some of the online qualifiers have achieved since the tourney was great too with Steve Jelinek, your good self and Ian Bradley from series 1 and Sami Yousef and Marcus Bebb Jones fom series 2 all having good live results in EPT's, GUKPT and APAT events.

THE CALL LOOKED VERY QUESTIONABLE TO ME TOO.
WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED WASN'T HALF AS MUCH FUN.mARCS BET WASN'T  THE FIRST RAISE AS ADVERTISED.iD ALREADY DONE THAT

Ahh, NOW I realise what happened! But it does make the point, that trying to edit so much action into a 1 hour show does tend to give a distorted image of what really happened.

I do hope you & your very fine lady are fit & well Mr P.

Now I see how it works - that TV programme way back was only edited to look as if IrishDenis correctly folded KK pre-flop.

I knew there had to be a better explanation than 'he made a great read'... Smiley

so party are trying to get some polish customers and turn LNP into a $1 SNG?

big up devilfish for his "bullshit" comment afterwards imo.

I think next year they should double the starting stack, have a max of one internet qualifier per table, no celebs playing their first tournament and make it a longer show otherwise it's hardly worth watching.  Sad

I think poker den cash game is great btw

Yeah I didn't get it wtf was that Polish women doing on it, of course she was awful we all were when we played our first ever game. So party have paid her in as she is some kind of celeb in Poland, right?

Devilfish comments were IMO, more moaning about the fact he didn't win as he obv would if the structure was good etc. Instead of what makes a spectacle on TV. He would be the major value in one table games online.

The structure does have a skill factor to it and to say otherwise is bs. Yet watching skilled players play this structure, which is somewhere sat between a long turbo internet sng strucure or a short reg internet sng structure. Would be like watching paint dry as playing super tight and then lol shovaments is all in line with standard strat in these tournaments.
