you know what guys since we moved here,we have met some lovely greek people.
ive been importing sofas from the uk to here to get a few quid by selling them to the stores out here, but now and again a few of the locals have been coming direct to me to buy a suite, they dont even know that i sell them to the department stores here, they just think im bringing them in to sell to the public.
i had a guy yesterday ring me up and all he could say in english was james satteee 4 oclick,,,,warehaaas
which i translated into james can i meet you at the warehouse at 4 oclock to look at the sofas (i can speak greek)
now i have a warehouse which isnt open/only when im there,
anyway i meet the guy,his wife, and 4 kids.,..,he ended buying a corner group for £500 cyp = £600 gbp profit about £130 (im not greedy) and he was picking it up the next day,but i have to go with him to put it together for him.
so this morning he rang me 9am,in his greeklish language we arange to meet there at 9.30.
to cut a long story short,we get to his house and waiting on arrival is a greek breakfast for me,so i sit with about 9 people in the garden and start to eat this food that i dont like but i wouldnt be rude,i felt like mr bean pushing it around the plate trying to hide bits of stuff,,,,while the food is being eaten everyone is talking and laughing and im trying to join in but not one of them could say 3 words in english,,,after this breakfast they bring out the greek coffee, yuk,,,but i drink it to be polite as when his wife gave it to me she said mmmmmmmm cafffoooeee,,,,i thought mmmmmmmmmmmmmm it looks like bisto,,,,,so all food and drink done now time to deliver the corner group, before you could blink there was about 20 people all taking the suite in lmao,,,,i put it together and then,,,,OH NO,,,,more cafffoooeee,,,,,,,,,,but a bigger glass,,,i wish i said i didnt like it but ,,,well im too nice sometimes,,,,then the father trys to explain something to me,i thought oh here we go no money,,,but no,his son walks outside and comes back with a puppy and a kitten,,,,u take,,i now got the jist he wants me to take a puppy or a kitten for the sofa,,,lol,i thought no,no,not for me.
he said in his greeklish u take u take, anyways they got the jist and i got paid, really lovely people..
all done ready to go i say my goodbyes in greek effharisto or there abouts,i get in the car and as i turn the key a puppy jumps through by the gear stick i jumped a mile,i thought if i take this home my missus would kill me but my son would be over the moon,i decide to take it back in and give it to the father and politley say no thankyou,as i do this the puppy gets free and rund under the car,i go to the back and he shoots off from under the bonnet a chase it giving all the dog calling themes, but it dont listen,i finally catch it about 300 yds from the house and my car, after tripping over and hurting my knee and limping after it,i take it back to find about 30 odd people pissing their selves at me falling all over the place with laughter, then i see the funny side and join in,,,,,
i end up getting home with no dog bad knee and aching ribs from how silly i must have looked.i tell my missus all about it and you know what she said,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you should have brought it home lol,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
so now at 1.30 our time,11.30 uk time we are off to look at these pupps,,,,,,,,,,i wish i wouldnt have mentioned it.....
but what nice people all laughing together and eating together with thier famillies,
i will let you know the outcome and maybee a picture or 2

haha yeh good story,

so typically greek! greeks will always want to stuff you with as much food as possible...my nan insists that all her male grandchildren are all too skinny and is constantly making different food for us no matter how full we are. Apparently being under 16 stone and male means you are skin and bones.

I wanted to ask one thing...did the greek family ask you to leave the wrapping around the sofas? It seems to be a greek thing to leave these on new sofas for at least a year before they may be allowed to come off.

and how u drank two cups of greek coffee i will never know! urgh

your obviously greek lol,,,,answer to your post and RED DOG in one,i think the cypriots must have a little romany/gypsie style about them,so long as you dont try to have them over they will be on your side,i sold a suite last week to mike watersports at konnos bay and ive had about 5 calls to take me and my wife out for dinner, mike and penny run the best watersports on the island and he is a very genuine guy and a family man,and his location for his business,,,,,,well you could be in paradise, fantastic beach,FOR RED DOG typical gypsie style, when i went to his house he was showing me all his jet/skis,speed boats ect and they were so,so clean the engines were like brand new,he works on them through the winter here ready for the summer.

as to the dogs we got half way there and mel decided that it wouldnt be fair to have a dog out here we wouldnt want to be looking at it in the summer roasting hot,and having to leave it when we went off to the beach......
ah well back to our afternoon walk along the cliffs of cape greko i will try to load a picture of cape greko first then konnos bay...............

Looks like Portsmouth is about to be obliterated by Darth Vader - a Death Star is hovering over it.
