Hello all, i am about to post my first winning month in a long time however can't seem to motivate myself to play.  For some reason I am getting bored with poker and find myself doing other things when i could be hitting the tables.

Has anybody else experienced a similar feeling, if so what did you do to get yourself back into the swing of things!?

Take a break.

If there is no motivation, then you do not play your best poker = losing money.

yes, several months ago

Not back in the zone yet either

I don't think I can force myself back, so am playing when I want rather than when I should

Financially not that viable, but mood wise fairly essential!

I hate it and try to play through it and lose money and think how stupid I am to keep on playing but I have to dig myself out the hole and lose more etc etc etc

def take a break and read "elements of poker" while you're on it.

I think a break is a good idea, it just seems strange that for months i have been playing all the hours possible and losing money hand over fist now i have turned things around I cant be bothered with the game!

Sorry to point this out, but this behaviour is characteristic of problem gambling.  i.e. you get more stimulus from trying to turn around losing than from winning.

lol - my post was a bit brusque, just meant to point out that we should all be aware of our motivations for playing and these should be based on winning and doing something with the money and not the game itself.

Go get a bird with expensive taste. That's a quick learning curve.

Try some low buy-in Omaha sit and goes. Get away from your usual grind.

It's a good question right enough.

What are your previous hobbies before poker ? Maybe look back a bit. Take up something you'd like to try ?

Are you always online playing ? Go and play live and get some social interaction and the crack.

Everyone's lifestyles and time constraints are different so it's really an individual thing if you ask me.

Weekdays at the moment i'm doing my work, pub for 2 pints, home - dinner - poker.

Weekends I'm at my local club (masonic) playing dominoes for 20p a corner and socialising with friends - I'm kind'a in a rut as well.

Look for other interests - meet some new people.
