At a Xmas office party you usually get people who drink a lot who aren't normally 'drinkers' and don't really know how their body reacts to lots of alcohol. If they're the type of people who go 'tipping point' drunk (ie seem fine and then one extra drink makes them paralytic) them they may think someone has spiked their drink. When you consider that a lot of people drink things like champagne, wine and shorts at parties, these drinks are more likely to make someone drunk quicker than lots of pints of beer.

As has been said, it's commonly used as an excuse to cover people making complete arseholes of themselves in front of work colleagues.

The thing is it was a free bar, so some staff may have simply over indulged themselves. I believe that one of the staff was particularly embarrassed because she said to me "is that money for me for sexual favours provided" whilst i was counting out the disco/karaoke money. I am her boss so maybe it was just easier to say i would never normally conduct myself in that way..........so i must have had my drink spiked!

did they have any reason to suspect that their drinks were spiked other than they were very drunk?

I believe I had a drink spiked once, and it was not just like being 'very drunk'.  After about 4 drinks (not a lot for me), I was violently sick (probably a good thing in hindsight), then passed out on the floor of the toilet cubicle I was in for about two hours.  After coming round, I still felt queasy and went to wait outside in the fresh air for my 'friend' I was staying with that night.  I then passed out again sitting outside the pub, and came round to find my 'friend' had gone home without me.

Thank goodness nothing untoward did happen.

That fourth pint of vodka causes most people trouble though...

No, other than that they behaved out of character.

I watched a documentary about this on channel 4 and they said unofficial figures suggested that the police were 38% less likely to believe the claim of an ugly bird than a pretty one.

I dont particularly agree with that idea but i understand where theyre reasoning comes from i suppose.

of course the top one looks better, it's got a double barraled posh name at the bottom where the other ones just got some random alphanumeric sequence, whats attractive about that?

If you called the other one "mordecai williams hyacynth" and the top one "crap monster" we'd all be looking at them very differently Roll Eyes
