I started watching it last week on sky two, and now have in on the + for future.. I saw episode 2 last night, i thought it was good as well, he is genuinly bricking it which I though was good as he can be a bit patronising, and act the hard man..

Whilst it may make interesting TV for some, I never watch programmes like this.
The guy and his crew are a liability and an extra burden on what is already a difficult task for our troops.
Agree that it's good for Joe public to see what our guys have to go through but could easily be done by trained military correspondents.
Soldiers tend to have a tendency to get attached to these crews (we had a small crew with us in the 1st gulf war) and can be distracted from the task at hand.
Still take my hat off to the guy for getting up ithere in the front line though.

British troops fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq is a complete joke. They get sent to war on a pack of lies and as soon as the neocons lose power in america this will change. George Bush has been the biggest threat to civilisation since fascism imo. The sooner we dispell our alligence towards america the safer we will be in the uk.
The next president will hopefuly strike a more balanced poilicy in the middle east, and it will make the world a safer place.

That is his take home pay less charges for Food and Accommodation (whether housed in Barracks or in Army quarters if married.) On Operations the single soldiers don't pay for their food or accommodation, however the married soldiers still pay for their Quarters. They do also receive increments to their pay when on operational duty. Overall the pay aint too bad, however with soldiers now spending more & more time on operational duty I agree that it still isn't enough. Interesting fact: During the 1st Gulf War the Kuwaiti government offered an additional payment to all foriegn troops taking part. Our government, taking the normal (we're British , it's just not cricket) stance. Declared that this was tantamount to our troops being mercenaries and refused. To counter this the Kuwaiti's paid us "water money" to subsidise us for the extra water we had to purchase due to the conditions.............and supplied this water free to us anyway. Geo. |

While i can see why the troops wouldn't want some c-list celeb following them round with a camera crew while they are risking their lives. Fair play to Ross Kemp for going out there as its not exactly easy street is it.
I caught the programme the other night and it serves a purpose in highlighting what some of our troops are going through. Getting paid below average wage to risk their lives, living in crap conditions. I must admit to watching it thinking "why the hell are they out there", what purpose does this serve.
There is no way i would do what they are doing, you could pay me 10 times their wages and i would be like, nah i like my life, cheers.
