Where did you get them from? Dealership, New, or were they from a private seller?

Dealer

Got any enemies?

see above dealer. I've just realised he must be trying to kill me. I'll post the story tomorrow of what happened with the first car I got from him, I don't have time to write it at the moment but combined with the 2 fires and a few others I've had from him I think we have compelling evidence

Gatso-
I would think your odds at winning poker would be better than having TWO cars go up in flames!

I must admit, once I was driving a friend's car to work (mine had urgent needs and went to the garage earlier that day and I couldn't miss work - what a friend!)
The car lost power so I pulled off to the side.
As I was making a phone call I noticed sparks from under the engine (yes, it was turned OFF!).  His beloved jalopy became a flame ball in minutes!
Funniest thing about that old jalopy -- it wasn't insured for collision, but it WAS insured for FIRE!
I ended up making him a profit, but I STILL had to get to work!

having seen gatso try and play poker i think your wrong

there is more chance of someone winning the lottery 5 times in 6 weeks than there is of gatso winning at poker

I'd be angry about that comment if it wasn't so true

Not common although it has happened to me.

Travelling to college one morning with 3 mates (in my trusty Smiley Y reg Fiesta) the engine suddenly cuts out so im free wheeling down the road and a car coming the other way suddenly frantically flashes his lights and points at the front of the car. I think whats his problem and suddenly notice my bonnet start to go black and smoke pour from under it. I look for somewhere to pull over while 3 mates try to exit a 2 door Fiesta at 20 mph all at the same time out 1 door! I pull into a pub car park the fire brigade turn up and extinguish the fire and whats left of said trusty Y reg Fiesta. They informed me a petrol hose must have split causing the engine to stop and the fire to start.

The real interesting part would have been if it had cut out a few seconds earlier I would have been able to free wheel into a petrol station (thinking I was just out of petrol) with a car that was a fire ball a few minutes later!  Shocked

how common is it for a car to catch fire whilst driving along?

it's happened to me today for the second time in a few months, I assume this isn't normal and I just run bad at cars
