OK you are sitting at a 6-max cash table with approx the max buyin. An idiot sits down to your immediate left with the max buyin and goes all in every hand. What is the range of hands that I should call with?

Also assume he sat to my right and therefore if I called his all in there are other players still to act, what range should I call with?

Finally why are all the players who do this from the UK?

88+/AJ+ imo.

If maniac is utg and hero is utg +1, this is too loose I think.

When this happened recently I called once with 88 when unfortunatly he had AK and spiked a king on the river, after a reload I folded a few mid aces and Kings, I then woke up with KK after another player had called with AK maniac had Q6 and I trippled through, but I felt sorry for the AK guy.

I like the idea of having pocket 8's at least as far as pairs go, but I worry with hands lower than AQ that he will have two live cards and I will not be that far ahead. I know that it is probably profitable in the long run to call with a wide range of hands, but I think I prefer to try and make things a bit more certain for that instant gratification.

BTW does anyone else think of these guys as the flying saucer in a game of space invaders?

I think this is a key point position round the table has an affect on our calling range. Blind on blind we can call v loose as long as our hand is above average we can call profitably. So yes if im in the bb and he is definitley shoving any two im calling with hands like K9 and q10 for sure.
