Currently at the company i work at we have a long term rental van, today whilst it was out doing deliveries the driver gets a puncture.

Now being a driver he immediately decides not a problem I'll quickly change the wheel and be on his way to finish his deliveries. So he trots round to the back of the van, looks underneath and in the hanger where the spare is normally kept it is empty.

Quick phone call to the depot and they get onto the rental firm to ask about the lack of a spare, to be told that "we don't put spare wheels on the vans as it is a health and safety matter as you have not been trained to change a wheel".

I almost asked for the rental firms number so i could thank them for making my work day funnier.

LMAO...........Health & Safety.

One of my last jobs in the Army was running the CQM stores when the whole Health & Safety thing kicked off big style in the Army.

I had to organise a COSHH (Care of substances hazardous to health) register.

I had all the safety data sheets completed, what the item was, what it's used for and the dangers etc.

Had the whole list from within the store, how to use the step ladders, how to use the cleaning equipment etc, etc.

The Quartermaster came round to check that all was in order and once he was happy that all was in order within the store he says "Right lets check the Armoury"

"The Armoury sir?"

"Yes, sonny, I want to see the data sheets for the weapons and ammunition"

WTF................anyone knows that weapons and ammunition is a health risk.

Another weeks work and my armoury was complete with safety data sheets........you know the kind of thing:

It's a gun - it can kill you

It's a bullet - it can kill you.

Neverends

i recall when working on contract for BT Cellnet in slough a number of years ago, and if you were working late in the office you had to fill out a form for security to let them know and also to "assess any health and safety risk". Everyone thought it funny when I filled in the box titled "working dangers" with "paper cuts".

and Americans present means more H&S paperwork to fill in as there are even more risks.
