Interesting thread, I'll reply (to the sensible questions) later today, & I'll send it to the Sky Suits for their perusal.

In the Interim, we've asked the Original Poster not to open Duplicate Accounts for the purpose of deliberate obfuscation, & requested he closes one Account or the other.

I'll try & explain how the Sponsorship & Funding of Poker Shows such as Poker Week works, & the sort of money it costs.

Seperate to that - because two subjects are becoming mixed up, & they are quite different, I'll try & explain the purpose of "The Club", & what it sets out to achieve.

My comments will, of course, need to be read in the context that I have, & openly declare, a vested interest, & I have no desire to mislead. Or use a new, separate, Forum Alias for such purpose.

I will be honest I have never watched the club so I have no idea if it is any good or not, what I would say is that if you look at the number of novice players who play on the site then the sky poker channel is good news.
Some of these players are starting to graduate towards live play which I would think is pretty good news for the majority on this forum as it swells fields and presents good value whilst they find their feet in the live game.
As regards the standard of play who hasn't pushed all in to make it look like a bluff and induce a call. May the lord please bring both those players to a table near me in the not too distant future. Oh and whilst on the subject of iffy plays I did on Sunday night see two plays from a WSOP bracelet winner that I would consider far more horrendous. In one he calls a reraise for 2/3 of his chips on a queen high flop with Q9. The other player who is a well known big tight kind of player has AQ. 9 on the turn. Nuff said on that one. The second one calls for 80% of his chips with two overcards to an all in after the flop. Our man misses and cripples his own tournament.

From what I have seen of Sky they get it right more than they get it wrong. Maybe we are not the target market.

Costs would be interesting Tikay. As I've said before .....I would like Sky to scrape "The Club" and put the money into producing/sponsoring, call it what you will, Poker Week. Just how much more would it cost to give the Poker playing community want they really really want??

Thanks to all those talking about our output.

This is the simple basicness of it all: Sky Bet owns Sky Poker. The channel was set up to be a shop window for our online and interactive poker and gaming services.

We are there to talk about skypoker.com and all it's tournaments. We operate within strict guidelines and, I think, proivde a channel packed with information and entertainment relating to the world of poker.

Our service is highly respected with awards and nominations for both the website and the channel in its first year of operation.

Regarding the slagging off of The Club, we have set this show up explicitly to act as a platform for the questions and suggestions of viewers. It therefore depends on viewer content to succeed. The Club is meant to link into a forum. We are waiting for thias forum to be launched. In the meantime, I think we have found a terrific double act in Matt and Dan and we are stepping up the amount of news and info from the poker world week by week.

We are also in the process of working on new formats: a two hour cash table competition and a late night, more analytical poker show that focuses on the game in a similar style to the excellent and much missed PNL.

That's much more official blather than I usually offer - but I hope it helps explain the situation a little bit and saves Tikay a bit of time to concentrate on his Pilates and Yoga. I hear he has gone all Tantric.

i do think there is room for 2 shows myself, the club only needs to be 15 min to interview a guest imo. and the forum for sky players will be for mostly for beginners, which is fine, i know a lot may dissagree but i think a lot of great advice is given for beginners on the open every night, the standard has gone up ,yes there are some bad calls but people play for fun and want to learn, players can then move on to a higher level if they want to learn more by moving to blonde or buying advanced books,.a lot will move on for sure as nobody wants to be thought of as a beginner, this is why poker week is missed by most players, a show for the majority of poker  players in the uk who are well past the beginners stage who like to follow poker in the uk, no other show covered the uk poker scene better than poker week,

I don't know..he did but I can feel a ban coming on...He could have said  "ass goblins, ass kabobs, ass monkeys, black banana, blind eels, boulder, chocolate channel chewie, colon cannonballs, corn eyed butt snake, corn massacre, crapsters
creamy butt nuggets, digested Crayola box, Easter Bunny's present, the fourth teletubby, frightened turtle, hardened fudge nuggets, hell's candy, Indian rug burns, keester cakes, Mississippi mud, monglin cluster shit, mudfat balls, peanut butter poop, potty animals, product of Uranus, sea pickle, sewer serpents, shitsicles, space slug, Super Shit Man, tangy butt nuts, that ain't chocolate puddin'!, tom cruise missiles, toxic turdeys, turd tunnel tasty, yellow submarine, air out the anus, ass sneezing, bust a shit, christen the comfort station, cook some beans, clean one's colon, cut off a load, drop a chalupa, drop ass goblins, drop some friends off at the lake, empty the manure spreader, take a plane crash - no survivors,
talk to a man about a horse, blow mud, booty hole burnout, butt dribblets, butt drool, chocolate explosion, G.I. shits, human expresso machine, Montezuma's revenge, oohs and ahs, screaming mimis, supersonic sewer sauce, boggy crapper, toilet bowl stew, cattle cookies, chimp chunks, cow farts, dog logs, doggy sausage, elk duds, kagatzka, lawn sausage or anal impaction" but he chose to call The Club "shite"..and that is surely against the rules.

Personally i think the club does the right thing for the viewers who it is aimed,it is after all a light hearted programme, to which the viewers can get in touch with and possibly get their name mentioned on the telly (thats how ED got started),sure it maybe lacking in certain areas but surely just on entertainment value it seems to work, and Matt and Dan do seem to compliment each other well.

so i'd say if u enjoy it watch it if you dont, well dont...

Re. Poker Week - sadly, despite everyone's best efforts, it didn't register enough viewers.

(We also had a constant stream of complaints from the hotels Tikay and Comp stayed in - throwing TVs out of windows, nailing furniture to the ceiling, etc.)

Poker Week was a great outlet for poker news but we are trying to bring some of those elements to The Club and The Open in the future. We're also going to change the format of The Club so that it's not just done from behind a desk.

And if you think we could improve the show, then do send an email...we genuinely want your feedback.

No matter what the hotel staff did, they just couldn't get rid of Tikay and Compo.
