Wenger said yesterday that they were better than Vieira and Petit as although they weren't stronger in the tackle they were more mobile.

I think he's on drugs. Petit and Vieira were probably the best midfield duo in Europe at that time. They could tackle, scrap and play, vs some great teams and some nasty teams.

Fabregas and Flamini or Vieira and Petit?

Tricky one. Probably the old two - i think they have better attributes of an all round midfield - size etc.
In pure ability terms I'm not sure -they have played through their prime and Fab & Flam havent yet.

Vieira & Petit no doubt, he's going to say the new two are not up to the standard of the old two is he... Petit was the best midfielder in the Prem for 2 years, ahead of Keane IMO...

It was a little sad to see Viera last night.  Such a shadow of his former self.

Fabrigas and Flamini are so much younger than Viera and Petit were though.  The potential is immense.  Also, they were different types of players, Viera and Petit were a great force in midfield that you didn't get past.  Flamini and Fabrigas are exciting attacking players.

Hard to compare era's.  Different sort of game now and different sorts of players.  I loved watching Petit and Vieira and they did something Cesc and Mathieu haven't done yet together, which is win trophies.  I would rather have Cesc and Mathieu playing in todays game though given how it's played now.

I think that it is worth remebering that Petit was a defender until he came to Highbury.

He had a couple of great seasons for Arsenal and then got sold on for a huge profit and mediocrity.

Fabregas and Flamini have unlimited potential and certainly knit beautifully together, they are aged 20 and 22.

Vieira was one of Arsenal's greatest ever midfielders imo, but as per usual after AW sold him has done little of note.

Wenger would never say that Petit and Vieira were better than Fab and Falm - DUCY?

Ask him if he thinks Henry is a better player than Adebayour and watch him not give a straight answer.

All try again. Imagine vieira in his prime and fabregas together that would be immense. I think wenger just said this to give a boost to the 2 of them and obviously woudlnt say they're worse would he its strange how players that leave man u and now arsenal seem to never do as well anywere else as they did there former club fergie is the master at it cant think of 1 player whos left man u and then done better somewhere else.
