Respect where it's due, Well done for getting the apology from the filth that is the tabloids. The money is only peanuts obviously as the papers made millions off the back of this but good for them that they had he balls to take on the ussually untouchable British "media" and won. Maybe if everybody started standing up to the tabloids the media would become half decent in the UK.

agreed..I have a plan..everyone who buys a tabloid should get a kick in the crotch when they pay for it, to "go with their paper". Sort of a Pavlovian "reward" scheme.

over the years i have stopped buying different newspapers, what's the point of not being able to trust what you are reading, the papers want headlines and stories which are sensational to sell papers, giving no thought to what effect this will have on the person and his family, if they just print the facts i will make my own opinion, when they go way over the top consistently i just get peed off and dont bother buying there paper anymore, its the only thing they understand

doesn't matter..you can not go around accusing people of crap. That is the whole point. The papers should not accuse people of things..they should report the facts.
If it turns out the McCanns are guilty, and they are taken to court over it then the papers can report on it.
Neither the McCanns were ever charged (thusfar) nor was that other guy in this case (Robert Murat) and the papers really destroyed that guys life over this. I reckon he too should sue the crap out of them and get paid a fortune in compensation.
It is not the job of the media to throw around accusations. Nor is it the job of the media to dig up dirt on someone they simply don't like. (Also not uncommon) The media should not make the news but they should report it.
Admittedly I am rather old-fashioned when it comes to these things but there ya go.

i wish it was as simple as being the truth or a lie, if they printed reports which where lies they would be sued, but sometimes its not a matter of if there right or wrong ,but just a evil and distorted view on a person or news report they know to be exaggerated which do damage beyond repair to peoples lives just to sell papers, but these articles can be put down to opinion and freedom of speech, that's why they have been getting away with destroying people for years

Rupert Murdoch is the devil incarnate (mainly for his work behind the scenes of politics)..there is no doubt in my mind about that.
But other then Mr Murdoch being evil I don't quite see how Sky is worse than all tabloids put together, would be interested hearing your views on that one. (BTW, I do not watch Sky News as I found it to be as shit as BBC news 24)

The main issue I have with Sky news is that it's very entertainment oriented. Very gossipy and I simply don't give a crap about what happens to Britney Spears or if Madonna wants to buy another baby.

This isn't overly unusual, Murdoch is a very smart guy and realises not too many people watch sky news so there isnt much point distorting it, unlike say fox in the states which is manipulated to the hilt and would do Joseph Goebbels proud.

Well if the papers have highlighted that a couple of pseudo posh types are responsible for their daughter getting snatched because they failed to look after her properly then maybe they have done a good job and many kids in the future may be saved.
