This from the Paddypower blog.... (hope ye dont mind me posting it, delete if its a prob)

Sad

Jen Mason just took a sizeable strike from Hit Squad member and WSOP Bracelet winner Praz Bansi. As I joined them on the river, the board read     two spades. Jen bet out 550 and was reraised to 1300 by Bansi. As she ummed and ahhhed, she eventually made the crying call only for Bansi to turn over his K-10 for the straight. The hyper-aggressive Bansi will be a player to watch in this tournament if he can get his hands on a big stack early on.

Yes, indeed, as I commented to Praz that he looked much cheerier than Jen did in the photos, he told me that that would be the reason. Here they are, in their assorted levels of cheeriness:

Some photos taken in the very first few minutes of play, with estimated chip counts:

Mark O'Neill (looking, as Junglecat said, like a young Mickey Wernick), 10k:

Happy Dave Colclough, 10k:

Andy Black, 10k:

Ok, I'm stopping with this 10k nonsense.

There are 316 entries today so excuse us if we are a tad slow catching up with requests.

I snapped a snapshot of players as I traversed the large arena in which the poker is taking place.

First off, we have Andy Black, mean and merciless and looking for all the world like he could crush someone in his bare hands. Grrrrr!

Next, we have the effervescent and effusive GUKPT regular Roberto Romanello.

He's a little quieter than usual, perhaps indicating he is super focused on putting in a good performance. I'm sure it won't be long before an endless welsh stream of commentary is heard from his table though...

It may focussed him. He looks very intense, which may be down to a) the Mods-mauling, b) sharing a table with Extreme Logo Wearer John Duthie, or c) Dena dealing at his table.

Big players aplenty are in evidence today and they don't come much bigger than Todd Brunson.

Son of a legend, immensely successful player in his own right and part time Simpsons' character...

How about this for the old guard meets the new guard!

Veteran of the circuit and all round entertaining chap Devilfish, sat next to the recent Dortmund EPT winner and online legend Mike McDonald aka "TIMEX". Quite a contrast!

And another Brunson, this one the super-cool Doyle. He's so great. He unsurprisingly has a bunch of railers around his table, who all hold their collective breath every time someone raises Doyle's blinds. I personally have yet to see him do anything other than fold, though.

I somehow luckboxed into witnessing what I beleive was the 2nd elimination of the day.

1106, Paul Baird had set 1108 (Leo Kam on the list, although as I know Leo, I can promise you it WASN'T him) allin on a K-K-Q-5 board. Player 1108 called and showed K-J for trips, only to find Paul holding the superior Q-Q. He didn't even stay to see the river muttering "merde, merde, merde"(French player i presume!) to himself as he barrelled out of the arena.

The river changed nothing, in fact a Q gave Paul four spanking quads and a big double-up, whilst the unknown Frenchman departed so fast, this was the only shot i got of him(not much to go on I know...)

This part of the update is a bit ike crimewatch. Do you know this man? Have you heard him muttering obscenities to himself after suffering a cooler? If so call our hotline...or failing that, just post on here and let us know.

Thanks chaps!

Mr Liam Flood has just now told us that there's going to be another €300 rebuy super-sat at 6pm tonight, for anyone who fancies it. Same rules as yesterday, although the tickets are absolutely non-transferable, so I wouldn't play it if you already have a ticket/have no intention of playing the main event tomorrow.
