At this level, 3 bet preflop is more often than not AA/KK

So, if holding QQ and below and you get 3 bet, are you calling the 3 bet for set purposes only?

And dumping QQ if no set value?

This is my line - what do you think?

I agree, people rarely do it with less than KK, very occasionally AK, but generally I agree with your approach.  If for some reason it's a min 3 bet, I'd call with QQ.

I would imagine its player dependent at almost any level. My default is to flat call mainly for value as if i 4bet, im only going to get aa and kk generally look me up. After that we play poker and reassess given the texture and action on the flop.

If it's an unknown then yes, assuming that a 3 - bet is QQ+ is good. That said, you'll get guys who are more likely to 3 - bet call 55 and slowplay KK and AA. You need to take note the minute someone does something silly and then play them differently.

90% of the time a 3 bet at 50nl on ipoker is not AA or KK.

I know this as i play with you nearly everyday and my 3 bet range is signifcantly wider than AA and KK and so are a lot of the regulars there.

I wouldnt 4 bet pre with QQ mostly depending on stack sizes, but im not check folding a T72 flop everytime...

Thnaks for the replies.

Asked because fairly new at this level and this week I have had QQ run into AA/KK 5 times - all where I have been 3 bet preflop.

You're running bad by the sounds of things.

OK Cheers.

Was running solid at 6BB/100 on 5 tables (over 6000 hands).

I guess swings are bigger the tighter style you play as the variance takes longer to even out.

4betting QQ lets them play their range pretty much perfectly if they have a clue. Call, reevaluate flop (c/ring a tonne oop).
