Last night at DTD Ralph and I were passing the time of day by indulging in one of a poker players favourite past times oggling the dtd valets gossiping about the other players.

Ralph went into extreme detail about one player in particular making scurrilous accusations about their background, where they got their money, their connections etc etc. This player was sitting one table away and Ralph had clearly pointed him out as we whispered about him and I was agog with such dirt on this player and in awe of Ralphs insider knowledge. Like Les Dawson and his sidekick over the garden wall we hurrumphed about this player and generally slagged him off.

After a good 15 mins of this Ralph put his glasses on and looked at the player again. "Oh no " he said "that's not him".

I know it may not be funny now but at the time we couldn't stop laughing. A classic misread from one of the older members of the forum.

Scurrilous gratuitous gossiping from Tracey

Look Tracey, lay off Ralph, right? He's old, & has misreads.........Ageism is illlegal, right?

Mind you, he is good at fishing, according to Compo, from whom he fished a huge Pot on Sunday, I gather......

He is a great fisherman - he just sat and sat patiently not saying a word while Compo swam around the line and eventually bit at which point Ralph calmly tabled the flush that Compo decided he couldn't possibly have. Pleasure and pain all in one monent either side of me. Great to watch, glad i wasn't involved.

Calling it fishing is doing Ralph a disservice. he did have a genuine hand (!), albeit a mile behind (?). he played it very well, not hard against me and there is not one other player i would have paid...and that is a compliment. For some reason everyone on the table thought i was on tilt when i raised next hand, with a genuine hand mind (no one lmore surprised than me). hit the nuts and got paid and never looked back. I love poker x x

Lovely to see you at the weekend Compo - the way you talked me out of calling your reraise was very classy. Stared deep into my eyes, bored into my soul and just said in a deep voice "Don't do it Tracey". It was mesmerising!

It was a great table, Compo to my left, Karabiner to my right.Great way to get an Omaha education and learn how to bet on horses!
