I make small bets praying someone has the As and another spade comes up.

i am checking and praying that something comes on the turn that hits one of the other three players

betting here, I'd be very concerned that I get three passes and wonder "what if?" for evermore!

I would check the flop. Maybe a tiny bet on this turn (if it's checked round again) and set it up for a decent sized bet on the river.

A lot depends on their hole cards and what the turn and river are though. If they have dont have much you wont get paid much.

I had a st. flush last night on crypto - Mr End asked me to post the full hand, and I will now, as the only difference, was the fact that I made mine on the turn, instead of flop.

In my case, I checked it at the river, then shoved in a medium sized raise on the river, which was called - I was hoping he had made the flush as well, and he called and then it was all done for him - I think I could have raised it up, some more, but you will never know.

So what was your outcome? I'll find the hand if I can tonight.

Nice when it comes in though innit?

i dont like checking the flop and the river, if no one has a high spade or open str8 draw, or indeed trips u are not getting paid one way or the other, if they do, they call your bets on flop and turn, it disguises your hand, and many people bet out here to protect top pair, or top 2, or indeed with the bare A.
Also, if someone does have the A or K spades, they will call u on the flop and the turn, but if u wait til the river and no more spades come, u dont get paid.

I think I would make a reasonable bet, maybe around 1/2 the pot (it depends what you normally do).

If someone has flopped a flush they may be slowplaying it and you're quids in.

If someone has a high flush draw you get money out of them while they still have hope, maybe more when if they hit another spade.

Someone with a set should chuck some chips in too.

Someone could come over the top if they think you have nothing.

Everyone could have nothing and pass, but if they did how were you going to make anything anyway? Only really a small amount if they take a stab at the pot.

Obviously with the 3 spades on the flop it's going to be difficult to get paid here.

I personally would try a small bet on each round of betting hoping that my opponents think I am bluffing. I don't think that checking will induce anyone else to bet, unless of course they hold the  As.

Its a shame that on such a nice hand that you may not get paid. What actually happened?

i end up checking the flop hoping some1 catches up on the turn orr at least makes a stab at a bluff
the turn is checked as well   i also check   the river  is checked   i now bet 500 into the 800 pot and everyone passes

looking back i wish i had a stab on the turn   but never mind

i did get a free breakfast voucher out of it

I would check, hoping for a bet. If there is no bet, I would fire out a reasonable bet on the turn, hoping to look like a bluff at stealing the pot. But if nobody has a spade then they are all passing

In the small blind I had  As two spades

but 77dave gave off such a strong tell that I knew I was beat before his bet on the river

p.s next time 77dave don't whisper to me asking if a straight flush beats quads

I'll save 77dave the effort......

Just move all-in. If you are lucky enough to flop a straight flush, then you are probably lucky enough to get paid 4 ways.
One guy will have flopped top set
One guy will have flopped a dodgy straight
One guy will hold the nut flush
and the last guy will probably have a lower straight flush (with a second 6 of spades)
