OK, a decision I was faced with last night in a live tournament.  Blinds are 300/600 with 50 ante (9 handed so total 450) - I am sitting on 13k, average is 8k, not many chips on my table and I am table CL.  It's my BB: UTG limps and SB makes up.  I check with  .  Flop comes  and SB moves all-in for 2.9k.......(UTG to act behind me has 4.5k behind)............

I call or push here.  I don't think it makes a huge lot of difference which you do.  If UTG calls too you can assume the rest of it is going in anyway, so shoving isn't getting him off in the first place. If he pushes it's only another 1.5k so you can't pass anyway.  UTG limps can be a bit dodgy, especially from someone with a shortstack.  It's possible he has an overpair, but only possible.  You have the opportunity to eliminate a player, and neither can damage your stack significantly.

How are you giving your blind up when there's been no raise why not just check as claw did then if you hit the flop good you most likely will get his chips anyway.

UTG limps from UTG when he has less than 10 BBs..it's safe to assume he's shyte and can find a fold here...if he does not have a monster.

If UTG is any sort of player he open shoves here, no? I have lost count of the number of times I have seen players limp from EP with sh!t like 97, J9 etc etc if we check with what is an above average hand and a stack that we should be using to dominate the table it looks fairly weak IMO so I am happy in this spot to raise.

If we take your route and check as Claw has donce and hit TP the chances are we are calling any push from UTG here! So why not take the opportunity pre flop to stick in a smallish raise and try and pick up whats in the pot?

There's no way I'm raising with Q10 here.  If UTG is any sort of player he has limped hoping for a raise so he can shove.
