Just installed skype and my computer is 'hanging'.
1. Any ideas on how to rectify that?
2. I need a headset. Any recommendations on best one to get - I think with a microphone is best.
Thanks
Tracey

The very last hand of the night goes to Dewi James, who finds ACES and talks Raymond O’Mahoney into calling his all-in preflop bet of 15k. “If I had AQ, I’d call!” says Dewi. Raymond calls holding pocket 66’s.

You could also (as an alternative) buy a skype phone. Even a cordless one which would mean you would not need to be near a pc to use it.

Skype is awesome.
We had a conference with Jimmy Fricke "Gobboboy" about a month ago.
Me, LeKnave, ChipRich, Linux in a conference then James decided to try loads internet poker players.
We couldnt believe he answered. He was very friendly aswell.

I want it for mentor sessions with Paul Jackson. I just want something comfortable and hands free.
I might pop in to tescos tonight on way to luton and buy me something!! Quite excited about it actually!!
Any thoughts any one on the hanging computer thing? Will it slow everything down - particularly bad on yahoo and windows.

Skype shouldn't hang your computer at all. As far as I'm aware, it's not memory intensive or that demanding on your processor. For telephone conversations at your PC, the headset idea is probably best. If you want to move away from using a normal landline to using Skype all the time, then the cordless handset (like Paul mentioned) is a good idea.

I use to love Skype for calling family abroad but was always having the same problem Tracey, I uninstalled several times and did loads of trouble shooting. I fixed one severe problem that was caused by my webcam being installed before skype (it likes to have it the other way round ) but I was still getting hanging/locking up problem.
My Dad found an article about msn causing problems with skype and apparently there is a fix for this, sadly I can't say if it worked as I changed to a new pc and never got round to trying it. It might be worth having a dif around on the net and seeing it it helps.
It's a fantastic bit of kit when it's working well, but can be prone to many issues.
Oh, and the £10 headsets from tesco's are fine for the job - I have one, funny enough Skype didn't like the £40 Skype headset though...
