I watched the Aviator earlier this evening, A film i have seen before i might add, In previous viewings i must have only allowed the basic storyline to wash over me and eject the DVD/change channel and move along to the next hollywood life drainer.
Somehow in this viewing i decided to check out the companies this man owned and ran, as a result of this search on the web, i read a condensed version of his life and i was glued for hours.
from the fantastic engineering mind, to the shrewd calculating business business mind and on to the hang his balls out there streak of gamble he had.
Its a pointless thread but for anyone that wants an astounding read start at wikipedia search on from there.
Have a good night all

A chronic insomniac, Hughes bought several local television stations (including KLAS-TV) so that there would always be something for him to watch in the early hours of the morning.

Did he end up owning large chunks of Las Vegas in the "bad old days"?
I'll have to download the film, caught a bit of it last night looked good.
