It might be the cynic in me, but:

“Yeah, sure, but only the big ones. I’m planning to play most of the EPTs now, I think you can get tired of playing WPTs all of the time.”

Surely that's down to his PokerStars sponsorship for more than any other reason?

Yes, that's probably true, but at the same time, I expect Negreau could be sponsored by whoever he fancies, so maybe he had one eye on the EPTs when joining Stars.

Maybe not likable to you personally, but, speaking also from what I've seen at live events, in general he appears to be pretty popular.
