Differences between Cash & Tournament play in Razz?

I'm starting to play a lot more Razz online as the games are very soft on Pokerstars.

For those who play razz more often, should cash be played more straight forward than a tournament? For example

You have (2 K) 4
Oppo 1 has (x x) 9
Oppo 2 has (x x) J

In a tournament situation I find that i am attacking these other hands a lot more because they can't really call. But in cash games is it worth risking playing this kind of hand? Is it better to just play the cards as they come?

The only reason I attack in tournaments is because there isn't ever much room for manouvre after two levels. But in cash you don't have that worry.

So I guess my general questions is - do you jam hands similar to above in cash as you might do in tournaments?

As far as I know all Razz games are limit so it's usually worth a look unless you've got a pair in your hand or 2 overs to everyone else.

If it's no limit I really don't know what I'd do here or anywhere before 4th / 5th street. Probably quit and play roulette instead.

You're right, Razz games are all limit. Never seen PL razz offered although that'd be fun.

Well....they can call but I'd think it's a bad idea to be calling anything above an 8. Why do i think that? I just think that they are relying on hitting perfect cards up to 6th street to be certain of being ahead. Sometimes I'll jam pre-4th even if I have a pair. If you replace a King for a 2 I would still jam based on my opinion that a 9 lo or J lo can't call.

I've never read any books or theory on how to play razz, but I've never done badly out the game - there's a lot of people who don't read the game at all. Same as with normal stud, too many people focus on their hand and not the others so theres a lot of money to be had.

Anyway...curious to see if theres any differences in Cash v MTT play

I don't play much cash razz but I think the key criteria is the type of table you're playing at - obviously a table full of calling stations is going to dictate your strategy for example.

If you're playing 3 handed, I'd be jamming that. Unless they've got A2 in the hole it's very tricky to call. If one or both does, of course it depends what comes off next. You've got 2 wheel cards 3 handed - you've probably got the best hand.

Not that I've played much Razz cash, but I've played some tourneys and HORSE. In a tourney I'd be folding that on circuit 1 and raising after that when a call costs more. But then it wouldn't be 3 handed in that situation.
