Why go direct and pay 30% more?
True. I was checking prices last night as hoping to go with a few mates for my 21st in november - it was just over £500 for flights and hotel for 10 nights, not direct but including all taxes. That was for a couple on strip.
Rooks, book it about 4-6 weeks before intended date of travel and you probably won't pay more than £400
Cheers - was going to book it mid month next month but will hold out now if you think it will go down. Ta.
Have a look on las vegas advisor too as it will state how many conventioneers are about. If it's only 500 now then probably very few for when you go.
It's always worth keeping an eye on the price as expedia offer ridic cheap deals now and again, have always found it cheapest 4-6 weeks before travel the 5 times i've gone though.

BA direct flights to Vegas on the way!! Yey!! Might not be for this summer but a BA & Virgin clash on a route at the moment can only be good for people wanting to fly to Vegas.

I work for BA and will investigate this further onTues,I really can't believe it as the airline really is in turmoil. All the talk is of decreasing services not increasing them with rumours of mothballing aircraft until the economy picks up.It would be great if it happened though, staff travel to Vegas ftw.

Good news to get some Vegas competition out there and also Heathrow handy too.
As for the old direct/indirect dilemna, it depends how big the 30% is in absolute £. If it is like £100, the first time you are laid out in the departure lounge of Chicago for 15 hours on a missed connection and wind delay, you will probably decide that direct is the way to go from now on. If time is of no concern for you and you can make a decent saving via L.A then why not - but if you are taking paid time off, it likely costs you more in holiday than you save in fares.

From BAs internal intranet.
Viva Las Vegas
A new non-stop daily flight between Las Vegas and London Heathrow is being launched by British Airways.
The new flights – which will begin on October 25 – will be operated exclusively to and from Terminal 5 by a three-class Boeing 777 offering Club World (business class), World Traveller Plus (premium economy) and World Traveller (economy). The Club World cabin offers seats that convert to 180-degree flat beds.
Richard Tams, BA’s head of UK&I sales, said: “We know how to fly high rollers in style and we will be the only airline to fly non-stop from Terminal 5. It is the ace in our pack and we are going to play it for all its worth.”
The British Airways 777 will be configured with 36 Club World seats, 24 World Traveller Plus seats and 214 World Traveller seats.
The daily eastbound flight, BA274, will depart McCarran International Airport’s Terminal 2 at 7pm and arrive at Heathrow at 12.50pm the following day. The westbound flight, BA275, will depart Terminal 5 at 2.20pm and arrive at Las Vegas at 5.10pm the same afternoon.
Tickets are now on sale from £467 including taxes, fees and charges through ba.com and direct through BA reservations on 0844 493 0787.
I'am pretty happy about this to say the least.Shame There's no first class though.

I've been putting in random dates and can't get a return flight for under £720.

I think it's BAs policy not to sell the cheaper tickets till 3 months before departure date.

Looks like its our poilcy not to book further than 3 months out then. Seems surprising that they don't market dump a fews seats at least on each flight to try and establish themselves on the route.

Errr don't shoot the messenger mate, just trying to help.
BAs corporate policies often baffle me and in the recent past have turned the airline from THE worlds best into an also-ran.Me,i'am just a humble grease monkey who hits jumbos with a hammer for a living.
FWIW i think flights out of T5 will rarely be cheaper than beardies out of Gatwick because people are always prepared to pay a premium to fly from Heatrow.
