A career in the poker industry - good starting points?

I'm after some advice. I've become very disillusioned with my day job, and, tbh, I think I've just had enough of working in the complaints industry and it's time for a change. I've been deterred in the past by not wanting to give up my comfortable salary and working hours etc, but life is too short, and I would like to do something I vaugely enjoy. The obvious would be something connected to the world of poker (I'm open minded as to exactly what - I'm pretty versatile).
What I'm looking for at the moment is pointers really - I know a lot of forum members work in some way or another in the poker industry, and I'd be grateful for any advice regards good starting points for getting a foot in the door. Are there any specialist recruitment agencies for example?
Also keen meanwhile to do a bit of work on a voluntary basis in my spare time to help build up the CV/prove my credentials, so if anyone wants to dump anything on me, please give me a shout!

lol fair point. A little different though - for the past 13 years I've been dealing with very serious complaints, often when people have lost loved ones due to medical negligence etc. Should all be good experience for dealing with the more 'minor' complaints of poker players

NO NO ... losing a loved one is a mere shrug of shoulders compared to someone hitting a 2 outer against a poker player on the river.
when have you ever heard a grieving relative at a funeral screaming "Heaven is rigged, im not going to that church again, im asking for all my collection money back and taking my prayers to a different religion"

There are a number of betting/gambling recruitment agencies - many of which have loads of poker jobs. You may be able to find something that helps you - Google is your friend, here, but a good starting point is....

Bear in mind that there's not a lot of new opportunities in English-language poker right now - French/German/Italian etc is where the new money is being spent.
The growth area right now in online gaming is bingo, so I, er, hear.

are you going to send me a link to top2pair?
If it's a serious question, it would be difficult given the hours required as I have my daughter to think about. I guess ideally I'm looking for freelance stuff to do that I can do from home on a flexible basis (managine projects/writing/organising events, promotion etc), so I can start out in my spare time before packing up the day job altogether if it goes well.
Less interested in the online poker side of things tbh, but keeping an open mind.
