Aren't people unbelievable.....
When we moved into the house here they had taken all the lightbulbs

Previous owners Jewish as well? Wink

Goodluck in your new house mate Smiley

*Note; Crap...I don't quite know how my little joke will go down...erm..yes..strange isn't it, I was always more than comfortable just cracking off a joke and not worrying about the consequences and now the atmosphere on the forum is such that you just don't know....expla
Anyways to explain... If people in Amsterdam take the lightbulbs from the house before they move, the people in the Jewish neighbourhood (Rivieren buurt) always say "He must be Jewish as well"..that's where the "saying" comes from.

Racist ban.

I say "don't ban the kraut"....by the way the benefit of being in Germany on Lighter Life is that I do not have to eat the food.....if you know what I mean.......anyone for spicy sausage

Did you just insult German cuisine? Sauerkraut and Bradwurst?...Surely not!

Would not happen in Romford Jim........

Tough break, & I cannot imagine being in Vegas without Air-Con. You sorted now?

That was some Poem Tom Posted - "be true to yourself" sums it up I guess. And it's unbelievably true.

THE MAN IN THE MIRROR

WHEN YOU GET WHAT YOU WANT IN YOUR STRUGGLE FOR SELF,
AND THE WORLD MAKES YOU KING FOR A DAY;
THEN GO TO THE MIRROR AND LOOK AT YOURSELF,
AND SEE WHAT THAT MAN HAS TO SAY.

FOR IT ISN’T A MAN’S FATHER, MOTHER OR WIFE,
WHOSE JUDJEMENT UPON HIM MUST PASS:
THE FELLOW WHO’S VERDICT COUNTS MOST IN HIS LIFE,
IS THE MAN STARING BACK FROM THE GLASS.

HE’S THE FELLOW TO PLEASE; NEVER MIND ALL THE REST,
FOR HE’S WITH YOU CLEAR UP TO THE END,
AND YOU’VE PASSED YOUR MOST DANGEROUS, DIFFICULT TEST,
IF THE MAN IN THE GLASS IS YOUR FRIEND.

YOU CAN FOOL THE WHOLE WORLD DOWN THE PATHWAY OF YEARS,
AND YOU GET PATS ON THE BACK AS YOU PASS,
BUT THE FINAL REWARD WILL BE HEARTACHE AND TEARS,
IF YOU’VE CHEATED THE MAN IN THE GLASS.

This poem was found on the wall of a cell in death row.
It was composed by an anonymous prisoner.

absolute bull!

it was written by a mr dale wimbrow in 1934 and was originally called "the guy in the glass" and published in an american magazine and copyrighted at the time.

suppose its not as appealing as quoting it as being written by an anonymous prisoner on death row.

lol im sure they did!

unfortunately many people have claimed to have written it over the years and changed certain parts of it and many have glamourised it by saying it was written by people in uncompromising situations.

its a great poem and one whose message i try my best to adhere to in my life though not always successfully lol

I thought it was written by Glen Ballard and Siedah Garrett for Michael Jackson?

The internet has seen many things get twisted by chinese whispers, usually with extra schmaltz added. A quick Google usually sorts the wheat from the chaff.

There's nothing quite like a quick google.
