Calzaghe v Jones - it's a date

Roy Jones Jr has confirmed he and undefeated Welshman Joe Calzaghe will clash at Madison Square Garden, New York on Saturday 20 September.
The American legend and Calzaghe, 36, will split the spoils from the bout.
Jones told BBC Sport Wales: "I was a fighter of the 90s, but I'm also a modern era fighter. I'm going to show people what I am.
"Everything is being split 50-50. It's straight down the middle. I wouldn't have it any other way."
Calzaghe split with long-time promoter Frank Warren in June as predicted by BBC Sport Wales, relinquished his WBC super-middleweight belt to fight Jones as a light-heavyweight.

Good News,
Imagine if loads of us got together and watched this under the same roof. Prop heaven.
Now a venue . . .
Joe should win this easily?

Shit post Nakor, such a clown.
What do you get when you cross a joke with a rhetorical question?

That's a good idea.
Can't imagine we could organise a load of blondes getting together in one place though, especially on that date. Sounds like a logistical nightmare...

Funny one this, genrally speaking I say Calzaghe walks this, and that is probably where my wonga is going, but Calazaghe struggled through his last two fights. That said they were both against better opposition than present day Jones.
My prediction, suprisingly boring and gritty fight, Calzaghe to win on points and retire immediatley after.
Anyone betting, go to a Yank sportsbook if you are betting on Joe, much better odds cos people from the States are stoopid.

Jones makes me laugh. He would have met Hopkins when they were both in their primes had it not been for Jones's "60-40" stumbling block live on ESPN.
He's lucky to get 50-50 Vs Calzaghe and he knows it.

Not really, the difference is that the rest of the world are fully aware of most of the top US boxers, especially as 90% of the major fights come out of Vegas or New York, however the yanks seem to have a very sheltered view of the top europeans, especially when they fight a lot at home, so they never to know what to expect. They are fully aware of Hatton now and probably Joe too since their big money fights, but generally they are clueless about homegrown talent (Case in point, they thought Audley Harrison was a big draw when he moved there and I managed to get 8-1 on Danny Williams when he beat Tyson).

Yeah, 3-4 years ago this would have been the best fight of the decade FACT! But now Jones is getting on, the steroids have left his body and its nowhere near the prospect it could have been. Hope Im wrong and its a cracker.
