Have a 30/40 runner tournament in aid of our football club to increase our sheltered viewing area.

Any idea how many chips i would need?

Tournament clock software?

Does anyone have any chips i could hire/borrow? (2000 starting stack + rebuys)

Never run a poker tournament before so im a bit lost as to where to start! We have tables though...

Any help would be most appreciated

Regards

Just started one in our local cricket club weekly to raise cash.  It going well and we are generating about a £100 a week now.

If you download this software, you get a 30 day free trial on it so if its a one off, make sure you download with less than 30 days of tourney. http://www.thetournamentdirector.net/

The software is pretty easy to use and self explanitory so give it a blast.  Need any help give me a shout.

We start with 8,300 chips each (only cos i have one 500 piece and one 300) and it uses all the chips up.  Manage to get up to 30 players in.  You can pick up sets pretty cheap tho online.
You would need 27 chips each with 4 different colours to get this done.

Also have a look at this site, lots of useful stuff here.... http://www.homepokertourney.com/

Thanks Claire, but as its a fundraising event...where we are looking to maybe raise a couple of hundred quid i dont think £100 could be justified!

Thanks anyway SmileySmiley

Ok I may as well come up and play then if the date is clear, I haven't played live for ages. When is it? How many runners and how long do you want the tourney to last?

I live in Hertford.

Does this look ok?

starting stacks.

4x25
2x50
3x100
1x500
1x1000

First lot of rebuys will be made at 1x 1000, 1x500 5x100 to help with change. Then just 2x 1000 or one 2000.

Structure

25/50 20mins
50/100 20mins
75/150 20mins

End of Rebuys

100/200 20mins
150/300 20mins

15 min break - colour up 25's and 50's

200/400 20mins
300/600 20mins
500/1000 20mins
800/1600 20mins

Break and colour up 100's

1000/2000 20mins
1500/3000 20mins
2000/4000 20mins
3000/6000 10mins
5000/10000 10mins
8000/16000 10mins

Should be done.

A bit of a jump between 300/600 to 500/1000 but there could be a boatload of chips in play. We can always tinker on the night by increasing the time on some levels or adding 400/800. We need to stick another break or 2 in as well.

Looks great Jezza.

We can confirm nearer the date but that would be great when you could give me a definate answer anytime soon so i dont have to bug someone else for chips!

Im being the Tournament Director also for the tournament whilst playing, so i guess if you wanted to help out with that too you are more than welcome. A lot of the guys have played little or no poker before so i guess there will be a few confusing situations!

Thanks for your help again,

Ben

Top Stuff.

Big thanks to Jezza who was a great help bringing chips and tourney software to our tournament. All the guys appreciated your help mate and you are forever welcome to visit again!

Hope you enjoyed the night it was a great success. Nice to see a poker tournament with loads of friendly banter and smiles for a change! Well done on cashing in 4th (?) and its nice that you roughly broke even on the night.

Once again thanks mate for helping run a great night and i hope to relieve a few fish of their money in your local cash game sometime soon!

Cheers,

Ben
