Hi -
Can anyone give me the idiots guide to the whole Diesel engine / vegetable oil conversion debate.
Is it worth it / if so how much / does it work.....
I have really long commute - and want to find out if i can be doing things cheaper... But being a girl I'm not that hot with the mechanics etc - so any help much appreciated.

I lookeed in to this about a year ago, and yes it can save you a bundle, although " you must pay the duty on the fuel you use" again thsi is all down to how much you tell mr Darling you use.
the conversion is a fairly easy process and I believe there are people dotted all over the country offering the service now

I wanna know why diesels 13p a l itre dearer than petrol...yet it used to be that much cheaper...oh yeah forgot government realised we all started buying diesel cars cos dioesel was cheaper..sigh

I wanna know why diesels 13p a l itre dearer than petrol...yet it used to be that much cheaper...oh yeah forgot government realised we all started buying diesel cars cos dioesel was cheaper..sigh
Its because diesel is becoming more popular and it is far slower to ramp up diesel production than petrol. Therefore the reduced supply level when meeting demand results in a higher price at the pump. It should fall back down in the long run though. |

If the NIMBY's would allow the building of new refineries that could produce more diesel and less petrol then the demand supply imbalance would allow the price difference to fall. Its those tree huggers that are the problem. |

I've been looking into the whole veggie oil thing too.
Something has to be done about the current price

Friend of mine has a large wholesale meat company that deliver over the south of england..he reckons the fuel bill for his trucks has gone up by £20 K a week !!!!  |

Friend of mine has a large wholesale meat company that deliver over the south of england..he reckons the fuel bill for his trucks has gone up by £20 K a week !!!! Price it in IMO. If you can't make any money then get out of the industry as it is obviously overcrowded. |
