One major difference I can think of is that I believe United have actually made a bid for Berbatov whereas Real Madrid are yet to bit a single penny for Ronaldo.

To be honest though I couldn't care less, tapping up happens in football, it has always happened, it always will happen, and it is impossible to stop. If anyone does think it can be stopped I'd be interested in knowing how they think it can be achieved.

I agree- I actually think they should make it in the rules that teams are allowed to tap up rather than all the cloak and dagger stuff that goes on-would make the game at least a lot more transparent- besides the selling team could probably benefit if a bidding war ensues.

Theres no way to stop it- a lot of managers and players from different teams know each other quite well so, for example, why wouldn't Morinho ask Lampard if he's interested in inter the next time they are chatting on the phone
