Ok- I don't usually post here but I'm wondering what everyone would do in this spot. There's 26 left. One 10,500 seat so top heavy structure. However all 9 players get paid with 9th and 8th receiving £300 (Im in for 300)

Average stack is 16k. I have approx 11. Blinds are 300/600/50 about to go 400/800/100.

Stack sizes- UTG has arounf 20k, UTG plus 1 around 25.  There's a couple of short stacks but most players have you out chipped.

I'm going to post the hand street by street

UTG limps. UTG+1 limps 3rd to act folds.

I look down at AK off suit.

Call, raise or fold???

+1

The only 'street by street' action should be watching the cards getting dealt out.

If UTG is getting cute with AA/KK, meh.

Yep, easy push. Doing anything else is playing the hand with a different stack in a different situation. If you standard raise, one of the ep limpers will deffo give you action. You then face a whole lot of ways to get your chips in after that. a) Call a push pre-flop b) Push to a check on the flop c) Call a push on the flop etc..But the chips will go in. A-K is a rubbish unpaired hand and so if I can win 25% of my stack without going to the flop then sweet. A-K is made to push in this type of situation.

Wow- really???

This is obviously a massive leak in my game. If there are no antes is this still a shove? Am I not telegraphing my hand if I shove?

I don't think you're telegraphing your hand here at all would you not make the same play with jj/qq ? I also shove seen as there's only 1 seat up 4 grabs and getting back what i already paid isn't that appealing

What if it's a standard payout structure still shove?

Due to it being a sat i'm only folding if it's close to the bubble for a seat otherwise they're going in

In normal mtt yeah it's a shove for me unless utg is a supersupernittynit(who is also a crafty bugger) then i might spend more than 5 secs thinking about it.I just don't see anyway utg+1 can have a big hand here. You're more likely to find someone after you have a monster and these 2 mugs were limping with junk.

PS I'm someone who plays ak quite passively as well lol

I suppose this is a big leak I have.

I always think of my stack in terms of big blinds and not M....

I actually made it 2600 to go- this is kinda spewy?

What range are you shoving with here?

calling?

Raising but not all in?

So they've limped UTG and UTG+1 for 600, and you make it 2600. They're not going anywhere.

You only have a pot sized bet left on the flop.

No A or K falls - what now?

Yeh- your right exactly my problem- I also got a flat caller directly to my left.

The flop came J66 two spades and it was checked to me.

My main worry with shoving here was that I felt I was playing my hand face up.

FWIW is there ANY justifcation in flatting here? Or do I just have to accept that if anyone has AA- KK it's a cooler and I'm going broke?

yeah shove pre-flop is the way forward imo, take away the prob of u missing the flop etc. flat calling pre is horrible play with ak and ur stack. like u say if utg or utg+1 has AA or KK then its a cooler.
