In the same positon, god I dont know where to start after being in this job for 8 years..
CV, covering letters, etc etc its a shitty feeling not working
I m OK with not working...in fact if I had the money I wouldn't as I can think of plenty other things I would rather be doing..but I have bills to pay and all that and it'd kill me not to earn as much as MrsB (It's a male pride thing) or be able to take care of "my family" (no kids but you know what I mean) so can't afford not to find a decent job.
The problem for me seems to be getting an interview, if I get that people will hire me as (believe it or not) I am actually shit hot at my job.
Apparently there are 250 applications for every job advertised online..I am overqualified for just about every single one of the ones I am interested in and don't have enough experience to get a 50k a year job in certain fields (nor am I looking for one to be honest). I don't need to make a ridiculous amount of money, but just to able to provide for me and the Mrs (and any future Boldies that might pop out) and have a good life outside of work with the odd luxury thrown in...and that means that the guys hiring for the jobs think I'll be after their jobs within 3 months....people don't get that you don't want to work 80 hours a week for 60k a year but rather work 40 for 30...strange that.

I've always avoided that problem in the past by not staying in the same job for more than a couple of years.
Good luck to all those job hunting, I hope to avoid joining you, but you never know with the imminent recession.

O dear you'll have to cut back on the deep fried Mars bars for a bit....
I've just finished a 3 month contract after having 18 months off and the state of the job market it will probably me another 18 months until my next one.
Mind you it would help if I could be bothered looking.
Good luck in your search sir...

You seem like the entrepreneurial type Boldie, ever considered starting your own business?

No mate, I am more the "go to" guy rather than the "guy going to drump up new business"...I considered it ages ago but found it just wasn't for me....I got out of the ridiculous jobs so I don't have to work 80 hours a week anymore and setting up my own business would mean going back to that.

Believe it or not, you could get a job as a forum poster.
You can get paid to make posts on forums.
Im sure you would be good at that, you have had enough practice.
