sure, it may not be media with an agenda you like, and clearly they go too far on occasions...but its a free press, regulated by the PCC, wishing they were closed down is as bad as the views (or the way they are represented) you despise.

You MAY have a point there - although freedom of the press is a nebulous thing, even in this country.

I'm not even talking purely from a political point of view though - for the good of everyone on these islands, the demise of the Sun would be a good thing.

If it wasn't what a significant portion of people in this country wanted, it wouldn't get bought.

So they've photoshopped some guy out of a picture.

So what? They've done it loads of times before and nobody would care if it was a white guy.

People picking up on it and calling it racist is far worse in my opinion.

More PC nonsense. Why do people have to highlight the fact that he's black. He's a person. A person has been taken out of the photo. It's as simple as that.

Seems a bit of an overreaction to say this is racist. Im not a fan of the sun, but what they did here is some awful photoshopping and little more imo.

Unbelievable reaction to claim this was racist, have people got nothing better to do.

However whats more worrying is how often do they actually manipulate and alter their photo's, I full aggree that it's bad practice and could really distort the truth.

This is the thing that really pisses me off. I don't care who they left out of the picture..they editted the picture to suit their own needs rather than worry about accuracy. It's shoddy journalism, this is what the Sun (and many other tabloids) are well-known for..it's shocking and everybody who writes/works for the Sun (and many other British tabloid) should stop calling themselves a journalist immediately...you're not a proper journalist if you work for a rag that manipulates pictures.

In fact I remember the Sun being very pissed of with the BBC about "The Noddy practise" (interview inserts showing the interviewer nodding as if he was doing it during the interview) and "The Queen walking out" scandal.

Rupert Murdoch's rags have always been filled with hypocrisy and lies so it will come as no surprise that those hyprocrites at the Sun would attack someone for doing something that is remarkably similar to what they themselves do. This might only be a "minor" incident..but it is endemic of a much larger problem amongst the British tabloids.

It's not the fact that they've edited a black person out, it's the fact that they edited a picture at all that should be seriously questioned.

If they do it with trivial things like this then what are they doing with things that actually affect us?

If they can edit this they can edit photos relating to war stories, politics, religion or anything else that could lead to genuine repercussions from one party or another just because of a picture they saw.

Off topic.

I was talking to the good mrs pants last night.  ( She was in full on BB mode )

And I mentioned the sun showing piccies of Beck's Baps.

Her honest reaction was :

''Oh, does anyone read the sun nowadays.  I mean, it's so easy to get porn on the web, I'm surprised anyone bothers.''
