Taken 2 just epitomises the current state of movies, meh why bother putting any effort into making a good film when we can just make the same regurgitated shite and people will go anyway.

Terrible film.

Flight

Denzel Washington plays an airline pilot who manages against the odds to save almost everyone on board a flight that looks like killing everyone onboard.

I won't say anymore than that, it's better to just watch and let things reveal themselves as you go.

Strong movie, Denzel Washington is very good in the lead role as the troubled pilot and John Goodman's character is pretty com although he only appears sporadically.

A must watch for any League fans because Ruxin's wife spends most of the first 5 minutes wandering around in the buff Wink

Django Unchained

Tarantino's new movie and a great one it is too!

Jamie Foxx plays a slave (Django) who is freed by a bounty hunter  'Dr Schultz'  because he needs him to locate 3 of his targets.

He then enlists him as a partner and they trek across the US to save Django's wife from an evil plantation owner played by Di Caprio.

Really good movie, great soundtrack and a great performance from Christoph Waltz as 'Dr Schultz' who is incred!

I don't go to the cinema often but I skipped the monthly £100 at G to take Mrs 3103 to see Les Mis last Saturday (skipping a 53 runner tournament wasn't that big a deal...)

I've seen the stage show in London twice and a a couple of youth productions locally and enjoyed it. The film takes the story beyond the stage show imo. The colouring in that can be provided by wider visuals gave the latter stages of the film much more impact for me. The Revolution became more real and more a part of the story than the love thing between Marius and Cossette/Ephonine although that too got more strength in film than on stage.
Truthfully, the stage show is mostly about the music, the film is a more compelling story with music that builds the feeling

Ann Hathaway's performance is amazing, I Dreamed a Dream should never ever be sung by SuBo again after that.
Russell Crowe acts his way through the film and his final scene was as good as it gets.
Hugh Jackman convinces and Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter ( I keep wanting to insert hyphens in both names) are a joy to watch.

People are applauding at the final scene in cinemas up and down the country - it's easy to see why.

Recommended even for those who wouldn't normally choose to go to a musical.

Absolutely brilliant and I've been told he played a really good part in Inglourious Basterds too.

There are very good people making films at the moment - but money is tight with all the studios.

So there's minimal risks being taken - lots of sequels, remakes and adaptations with very little original and new stuff.

The people doing it are doing great - they just haven't got the best material to work with.

Obviously I'm not including Taken 2 as an example of how well they're dealing with the material they're given Smiley

Yeah but you don't need massive budgets to make great films.

Take a film I watched today 'tyrannosaur' by paddy considine. Excellent, powerful, hard hitting and obsorbing, on a minimal budget.
