Gala and circus in Notts both have comps but dont expect too much. Could be wrong but think Circus is £10 rb and Gala £20-30 rb.

Depends whereabouts you're based and how far you want tp travel. There's a £15 freeze at the Counting House in Leicester where everyone seems to be related or the super turbo home-by-11 £10 freeze at the Gala.

I live near Leicester and I'd rather drive to the Broadway or Walsall for their £15 rebuys.

The Isle at Coventry appears to have a £10 rebuy.

Stu and Pie's poker in the pub at the Wheelhouse in Nottingham ftw!!!

£5 freezeout, 25 - 35 runners.

It's the main reason they had to close DTD on Mondays. The staff refused to work because they couldn't stay away.

Thanks for the info chaps, My preference would have been DtD, but I suppose I will give the Counting house a bash, its cheap and very close to the hotel ( spot the lazy bastard ).

The Isle in Coventry have a £10 rebuy on Monday's, but their cash games are normally excellent.  They even have bad beat jackpots and the like.  Some guy on my table won £150 on Friday night for trying to slow play his very low and dangerous full house...Max payout is £15k I think, but in 6 months nobody has won it yet..

If you are looking for a very friendly game then as sharplea has said Gala in Northampton have a £15 bounty tournament, as well as super loose cash games ranging from 25p/50p pot limit up to £1/£2 hold'em.

Where does the money for the bad beat jackpots come from?

Basically they work it like this - The Isle started the jackpot off at £5000.  They then rake an extra £1 from pots that qualify to be raked.  This £1 then goes into the bad beat jackpot.  Originally the jackpot could only be won by having Aces full of Queens beaten where both opponents used both their hole cards.  The loser gets most of the jackpot, some to the winner of the hand, and a bit to the rest of the table (not sure on exact percentages).  Obviously the odds of this happening are very slim, and takes ages live where you aren't seeing as many hands.  People began to get disheartened that the jackpot stood at over £15,000 and had not been won once.  So now they have said that when the jackpot stands at over £15,000, anyone that has a full house beaten (and the loser only uses both his hole cards) will win 1% of the jackpot.

Incidentally The Isle are also about to start a live rakeback scheme which as far as I'm aware is a new thing in this country for live poker.  Again, I'm not sure of the exact figures, but it works on the number of hours spent playing live cash.  They also have a cash league where anyone completing a certain number of hours (used to be 50 but think they may have reduced it now) a month qualifies to play in a freeroll with a minimum pot of £5000 depending on the amount of runners they get.   In addition to this they also run a tournament league and have a fair few small comps with added money.  All in all, there are a lot of good promotions at this casino, and it is a lovely casino.

So it comes from the players?  It's additional rake?

Don't get me wrong, I think the casino is magnificent, and when they have the dealer situation sorted I can imagine it will be a top venue.  But any jackpot like this is simply additional rake isn't it?
