Bad Poker Form/subsequent affects

Hiya Everyone!
Im pretty new to the site and stumbled across it from recommendations from my brother. Top site! Just thought id share my poker experiences Ive had in the past few days.
Ive been playing online pretty regulary now for 3 monthes. (Playing poker for 6)
Im not gonna go on and on about bad beats etc cus Im sure people post on here daily with thier bad beat experinces etc but recently Ive been getting some bad luck and a combination of making poor calls and stupid bluffs. Now I know no matter how good the player, luck does come into play occasionally but I cant understand why recently Ive fallen into a poker spiral. It all started when I was outdrawn in 2 consecutive tourneys with pocket aces and kings. I was obviously gutted and with my bankroll a lot lighter with what I started, I played more to compensate for the lossess. My bankroll is now almost non existent after building up a decent ammount over the past few weeks.
Has anyone else experienced this and if yes, what do you suggest? Should I take a poker break? Should I change my style of play?
Ive played different styles over the past few days but to no avail. Ive tried keeping it extremely tight, waiting for premium hands only, only to be outdrawn by ridiculus calls. Ive also tried playing aggresivley calling hands like k7/q8 etc to create a bit of pressure only to be re raised, dwindling my chip stack! Currently I play on 888/Betfair mainly sit and go's between $2 - $10 tables. Another thing I find with these tables is the ammount of dam right stupid calls some people make. (Eg all in with j8 suited/ Ace 3 etc etc). Now to me, calling with hands such as these before the flop seems some what strange but Its these calls which seem to beat me at the moment. The phycological affect my bad form has had on me along with these bad beats, I feel is the main reason for my slump. I also started thinkin of the sit and gos im playing. Because the stakes are so low, people tend to play a lot looser??? Has anyone else experienced something similar? It's even got to the stage where Im scared to play certain hands becasue of whats happened in previous games.
After all this, dont get me wrong. I love playing poker, and enjoy being at the table as often as possible!

Welcome to the forum

Bad runs come.

Look over your hands, make sure you are getting your money in with the best of it.
If you are don't worry just keep at it. Play within your roll and you'll do well. Make sure you're not playing coz you NEED the money.

A change in games can help if you're on a bad run eg, shifting your focus from cash games to tournaments or vice versa.

Take a break, gather yourself together. Play live or if thats not an option just play freerolls till you feel the rivers flowing your way!

Thanks for replying guys. Ive decided to take a break for a week and arm myself with Harrington on Hold'em instead! Hav'nt played out live yet. Ive noticed that most of the action is around the Wallsall area. Im up in Stockport so Its not 2 far to travel I guess.

Haha! My bad form continues! I qualified for a WSOP satellite tourney which Ive just finished. Got knocked out 290th.

I had:  on the BB. I had 1 caller with the flop showing  Ah
The guy raised 100 (Pot size) and I figured with a flush draw and a straight draw I was a slight favourite. I figured the guy didnt have the ace and put him on a staight draw so I re raised to 300. He subsequently went All'in and with my stack now somewhat smaller I called only to see  .

I lost the hand and was knocked out to  giving him the straight and me pairing my kings!!! Now I could understand If the other guy had a superior chip advantage but he didnt (bout 200 More than me) so obviously Im feeling even more gutted with the Cack week Ive had!!

Just a wee point.

Don't know if you are short rolled but anyone who is and plays satellites to big tournaments such as wsop will find themselves staying short rolled as you pour money and are unlikely to get any out.

If you just play for fun then carry on. If, however, you'd like to accumulate funds then give the satellites a wide berth.

Also

With regard to your play of the hand on the flop. How much did you call all-in for? If it was a NL game you would have been far better off raising all-in if you intended to call all-in to a re-raise.

Next time you have a draw and want to raise, before you do, see if afterwards you will be able to fold to a re-raise. If not you are better off going all-in yourself, your opponent will have a tougher time calling with Q6 knowing it WILL go to a showdown. He had two ways of winning not just hitting the K but also you folding. If your money is going into a pot get it in first so your opponent knows they have only 1 way of winning.

We all get beats like these, those of us who play 4 sit n go's at a time will expect around 10 badish beats a day. Instead of cursing your luck, analyze your play and improve it.

Hi mastersoul, & welcome to blonde.

Look at bad calls this way. If someone makes a bad call, then in the majority of caees, by definition, you will win. So for you, it's a GOOD call. Sometimes - in the MINORITY of cases, by definition, they suck oit. Remember the MAJORITY of wins, not the MINORITY of beats.

Bad calls by others are GOOD, in the majority of cases, but you can't have your cake & eat it. Sometime they get lucky, but not as often as you win.

Tikay: Good advice. Nice way of looking at it! Im the first one to admit, Im not yet the greatest of players, im still pretty young and inexperienced so when Im not winning it shows my lack of knowledge to some degree. Along with the outdraws and bad beats ive had this week made me bring it up in this post. A year ago, poker to me was a card game! I Knew nothing about it whatsoever. I stumbled across it via a mate and from then on I was hooked! Its a one of the most strategical and exciting games Ive known. So from a year ago not knowing the difference between a river and, well err a river, trips and a stumble, Doyle who? ..to playing it everyday when I get in from work for hours and hours!! I cant complain. I suppose id take all the bad beats etc rather than not playing at all hey!
