Norwegian physicists project the next 100m world record?

What do Norwegian physicists do in their spare time?
A bunch of them at the University of Oslo have been studying Usain Bolt's 100m final in Beijing in an attempt to answer the question how fast could he have gone if he just went for it instead of extending his arms and beating his chest in triumph.
They used as much different TV footage as they could find to measure the speed, acceleration, deceleration etc of Bolt, and the 2nd place athlete at various points in the race.
Richard Thomson was the silver medalist. He decelerated in the last 20m, but Usain Bolt obviously decelerated more.
The scandie egg-heads worked out that if Bolt had decelearted at the same rate as Thomson during the last 20m his time would have been... 9.61
They thought this too conservative however, as Bolt's performance was so much stronger than Thomson's over the first 80m, they thought he might decelerate at a slower rate still. Some more calculations (and arbitary plucking numbers out of thin air) followed. They now think that if Bolt put his mind to it he could potentially run a 9.55 race.
I will stress the physicits were doing this in their spare time, their day job is looking at asteroids and planets and all that boring nonsense

Pah. Linford could have done 9.54 if he'd been aroused.

Is that when it's taped up to make him appear to look like a woman?
