Just saw a trailer, looks like it could be a sort of "Big Deal" type programme, says coming soon on BBC
Steve Coogan to star in new BBC sitcom from Royle Family writer
Apr 22 2008
STEVE COOGAN is to play a gambling addict in a BBC1 comedy drama.
The Alan Partridge and Saxondale comic stars as Bing, a family man with a betting problem, in three-part series Sunshine.
Bernard Hill, who played King Theoden in The Lord Of The Rings, is his dad, George.
Royle Family writer Craig Cash will co-write, direct and star in the drama.
A BBC spokesman said: "Sunshine is a heart-warming story about how, when you reach rock bottom, the only thing that matters are the people you love."
Filming has begun on location near Stockport, Cheshire, and in Salford, near Manchester.
Sunshine is due to be shown this autumn.

coogan is a legend as alan patridge but tbh im not a great fan of most of his other work. saxondale was ok but not in the patridge class imo.
hopefully this new show will be good and is bound to have a lot of dry humour similar to the royal family (didnt caroline aherne and craig cash )

Was going well until the end of the illegal bookies scene. Just too far fetched for me. Shame. I'm seeing his stand up tomorrow night.

have not seen episode 2 will watch in the morning but enjoyed the first episode though agree with josedinho regards the illegal bookie scene. it was very predictable and these type of places dont exist any longer

Coogan was much better this week - the first episode was all Alan Partridge but he actually did some acting this week. And the guy playing the grandad is an immense actor - that scene where he pretended that he took the kid's money to take to the bank was fantastic.

Agreed. Multi-dimensional and bitter-sweet.
Nice job.

Just watched the 1st episode-loved it!!!
The only thing for me about Coogan tho is everytime I see him I see Partridge- he still has the same mannerisms and goofiness!!!
