Nice one Simon.

First . sorry for those that didn't see this thread in time to take a share, i improved on my placing in the WSOP-E.

There were 95 players for this £1000 PLO European Championship which started at 6.15pm with 10,000 chips and 40 minute levels.

During the first 5 levels i played very few hands as again i was pretty card dead.

AKQT won me 2000 on an A 5 T 8 A board when a player tried to represent the nuts i had.

Then i lost it back in a 6 way raised pot with KK89 , flop was all diamonds and i had the K flush , Dave Colclough checked , the preflop raiser bet 2100 and i flat called as everyone looked as though they were passing , but DC was trapping with the nut flush and reraised pot , the pre flop raiser put his last 500 in and i passed , he had a small flush , turn paired the board and river was a K !

I took the second chance and had 8200.

By level 5 i was all in on a K 4 2 flop with AAQ5 but no callers.

During level 6 i called a raise on the button with K567ds ( this looked good after the crap i had been getting ) Dan Alspach a top American player bet out 1200 on a K 2 K flop and i moved in for 4000 but he folded.

After level 7 came and went there were 29 left with an average of 32,800 , i had 7600 and had not been above 10,000 yet.

Level 8 was 600 - 1200 so i had 6 x BB , there was a raise to 3600 which i called with AAQT , most would push here but i was in SB and if i completely missed the flop had another round. Flop was T high and i moved in and got the call , he had KK , i made 2 pair and now had 16,400 around half the average.

With a little room to manouver i called a min raise on the button the very next hand with 99TQ , flop was Q T 8 , the pre flop raiser pushed and i reraised all in , he called with KK and i ended this level with 32,800.

Now with blinds at 800 1600 Lucy Rokach joined on my left with 70,000 !

She limped as did DC and in my BB i found AKKTds and made it 6400 more , only DC called , flop was 9 8 3 giving me an overpair and nut flush draw , i bet 19,200 and DC folded. Up to 43,200

Level 10 started at 1000 2000 and most of the players were not happy as the management in order to get the comp finished had removed the 1500 3000 level so 11 was now going to be 2000 4000 , as the average was 45,000 this meant theis level would be around 12 x bb , DC was very unhappy and went for a double up and got busted.

Rather than remove any more levels i suggested dropping the clock to 30 minutes and this was done after one more level at 40 , as you will see this was not enough unfortunately.

We were down to 18 and i had exactly 40,000 and had been moved to the right of Willie Tann and Lucy who as BB had been moved earlier.

All passed to me in the cut off and i raised to 7000 with KQ99ds , Willie on the button reraise 23,000 all in, with 33,000 in the pot and 16,000 to call , like DC i decided i had to take a shot so called. Willie had rag AA and even though i flopped one of my flush draws i missed and all my short stack work was ruined , i was back to 17,000 lowest stack.

2 rounds later i made it 7000 to go and with 3 to act Davood Mermand asked what i had left which i though was bang out of order as basically he is letting the others know he is going to put me in , they all folded and sure enough he made it 14,000 putting me all in , i called with AKQ9 and had his AQT9 in bad shape , KQ flopped , he missed his middle pin and i was up to 29,000 , there were 15 left , 11 getting paid. Average 63,000.

Next round we were on the bubble , Davood raised my BB , but this time i had AA83ds and reraised all in , he called and i flopped a full house to get up to 60,000.

It was then suggested we take £100 off each prize to make £1100 for 12th , one player objected but agreed to all of us putting in £100 from our pockets , so we did and 12th got £1200.

Now blinds were 3000 6000 , all folded to me in the SB , i had AK45ds and thought if i limped Willie woud raise so i did and he made it 12,000 more , as earlier i flat called as if i totally missed it would be easy to get away from. Flop was Q 7 3 all spades , i had the stone cold nuts and checked , Willie went all in for 26,000 and i called instantly and declared nuts , Willie had A973 for bottom two pair but didn't improve and i now had 106,000 which i made the final with in 4th position.

The first level i stole the blinds once then with 8 players a deal was suggested as one player had 299,000 of the 950,000 and blinds were now going to 6000 - 12000 with av stack only 119,000 .

I worked out the deal which would give Davood £24,000 , the shortest stack £6500 ( better than 5th ) and myself £9,400 but the short stack decided he wanted to play on.

We dropped to 6 and by now i had stopped taking notes and concentrating on winning , i was all in once after dropping to 56,000 , blinds were 8000 16000 and a pot raise of 56,000 was made, i called all in with AJJTds , pot was 136,000 , he had KK which he rivered for a set but it gave me the nut straight.

At this point we were now down to 20 minute levels and had been told it would be finishing after the 10,000 20,000 level at 5.15am.

I now got caught in the middle and lost 50,000 chips , there had been a raise to 18,000 , i had TT45ds and with one level to go before it went to a chip count was willing to gamble so called 10,000 more in the SB , Simon Eastood , an old friend from Reading days ( we split the PL-HE here in 97 for £10,000 each which i won ) now raised 18,000 more and the original raiser went all in for an under raise of 26,000 , i called and after an A flopped Simon and i checked it down , both of us missed completely and the other player had AA .

4 handed we had 15 minutes to go , i had 58,000 , Simon was big chip leader with over 400,000 so could fold his way to the tiltle , i had a choice , each 10,000 chip was worth approx £800 , do i gamble or hope with the stalling ( Davood was getting a clock called nearly every hand ) i would lose no more than 30,000 and make an extra £2240 on top of £8080 for 4th .

It was obvious Davood had settled for a chip count as he had over 160,000 so on the button i went all in and in fact Simon raised to isolate , i don't even remember the hands but i rivered 2 pair and was now in 3rd place then came the key hand.

In FP i raised 70,000 with 3 minutes left to go , Simon and Davood folded but Salvadore reraised to put me all in , now it was 62,000 to call worth nearly £5000 and all i had to do was stall to avoid losing the BB on the next hand to lock it up. I had AT98 and decided to gamble for a big win so called.

He had KQQ7 , flop was 9 high , turn an A and river a T , he was left with 24,000 , it was all over , Simon had 500,000 , i had gone from 58,000 to 310,000 and Davood had 116.000.

Simon was declared the winner and i think he deserved it even though ideally as it was a European Championship he would have preferred to play it out . His key hand had been earlier when faced with a call and an all in raise he risked everything with rag AA and against 3 all ins with one that had him covered, they stood up propelling him to chip leader , he could easily have passed and moved 2 places up the pay ladder.

Obviously i would have relished the heads up if we had got there but i think i came second because Davood locked up and Salvatore didn't realise the value of his stack with minutes to go.

For my efforts i received £22,490 , much better than the £1200 for 12th i was destined for. or the £9400 deal i agreed to when i had less than 8 BB .

So , the following payouts are due and all apart from MC, as promised, will also be freerolling with the same value shareholding when i play the GUKPT in Thanet.

Evil Pie ( Matt ) 20%  £4500 + same share holding in Thanet GUKPT

Simon Nowab 15% £3375 + same share holding in Thanet GUKPT

Tony Minnis 5% £1125 + same share holding in Thanet GUKPT

Julian Thew 5% £1125 + same share holding in Thanet GUKPT

Tikay 5% £1125 + same share holding in Thanet GUKPT

Red Simon 2.5% £562.50 + same share holding in Thanet GUKPT

MC ( James ) 2.5% £562.50

Scott Mcgee 2.5% £562.50 + same share holding in Thanet GUKPT

Robbiebox (Jon) 2.5% £562.50 + same share holding in Thanet GUKPT

I got out of The Vic at 5.50am , found a b&b to get some sleep as i have some business in Kent today but couldn't so came to an internet cafe to get this written up ( and do some work lol )

Thanks for all those that gave me a second chance and i apologise to Woodsey and Chris Bruce who missed out.

Payments will be made either when i see you at the club or by transfer, i will contact you all.

Cheers

The very last hand of the night goes to Dewi James, who finds ACES and talks Raymond O’Mahoney into calling his all-in preflop bet of 15k.  “If I had AQ, I’d call!” says Dewi.  Raymond calls holding pocket 66’s.

Brilliant result mate and well done for taking those gambles at the end. Must've been difficult decisions.

Well done to all the stakers for keeping the faith after the disappointing card run at the WSOPE.

Good luck at Thanet.
