im thinking about selling some my coins in my collection (british 1800+ mostly). will probably be taking them to a coin shop on saturday , but just wondering if there are any collectors on here as i could probably squeeze a few more quid out of a proper collector Smiley . got some nice coins so if there is anyone interested pm me or leave a message here.

Not really but I inherited a collection from my Granddad.  I didn't really do much with them but apparently, if you take them to the coin shops, whatever they offer will be about half their worth.  That said, they don't generally bargain with you, they offer a price and you take it or leave it.  They offer the low value cos they want to obviously make some thing out of it.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.  I'm going to have to do something with my lot sooner or later.

tbh, I wouldn't even know where to begin selling them.  I have quite a few and they're mainly unsorted.  I need to go through them and tidy them up a bit before I think about selling them.

Sort of, I keep them for sentimental reasons and am reluctant to get rid of them, but in all honesty, they just sit in a box in the loft. I think my main reason for keeping them is the fear that they're not actually worth much Cheesy

if you do decide to sell them, dont take them to that robbin bassa in glasgow (the one on george square).

they have been ripping people off for manys a long year. Try and find private collectors, or find som internet forums where people will give you decent advice.
