A client of mine is the toy buyer for a large retail chain in the uk.

She has recommended that if you are wanting to secure computer based games and anything to do with High School Musical buy it when you see it as those will probably sell out. Anything else you can probably afford to wait on, sales are dire and her company will be slashing everything by 50% two weeks before christmas, it's already planned.

Good woman...cheers!  Will be getting kid's lists from start of November and make sure I hit up the likes of what you've mentioned first.

If you're looking for Wii or Wii Fit, a good site is here. Real time stock checker. Most places only have it in stock as part of a package, but I got two (one for a friend) from Amazon a while ago at RRP by keeping this page open for a few days.

I think my friend just got one from HMV online - he had to ring them up though.

That site's brilliant!!!  Used it last year to get the Wii console (when everyone said it couldn't be got) and didn't pay over the odds for it.

Heard a rumour that Asda (in store only) are selling PS3's for £129.99 and Wii's for £99.99 from tomorrow till stocks last (prob till 10am tomorrow!)

If you are passing and want one, could be worth checking out.

Wow. That sounds incredibly unlikely. Unless it's a cunning "stock of one" ploy to get a stampede of people in the shop. Where did you hear that?

Just on another forum.  Apparently someone has phoned head office and they confirmed the offer, but the stores are unaware.  Does sound iffy and if it happens it could be a few stores only or just a few items in each store.  The staff may even grab them first.

It's just what I heard, if you're passing then it could be worth enquiring, but yes it does sound unlikely.

Luckily I do not suffer from this affliction......though I would point out that a toy is for Xmas and not for life

So am I being a bit tight fisted that I'm planning to buy a Wii Fit as a joint present for both my nieces, and sister and my brother-in-law?

I figure, it's a family game so they'll play with it together - therefore they only need the one present.

This is right yes?

Mentioned this at work. Went off on a tangent. Caused an arguement.
Now going to start a new Christmas related thread. Blonde's may go on life tilt.

went to Asda today ... No wii consoles anywhere, I asked at the counter and the woman said we have been out of stock for ages, no idea when next delivery will be.

Got some lovely cream cakes though, so not a complete waste of time Wink
