Hi
Was just wondering if anyone can help,we have the free version of Limewire, which has become slow and nearly unusable. I see you can pay $21 for the pro version, and was wondering if anyone has done this and found it faster?
Or if you know of any other good sites we might be able to try?
Thanks in advance Shelly xx

What ISP are you with? Some ISP's, like Pipex, use packet-shaping. They identify traffic that is Peer2Peer like Limewire and drastically reduce the bandwidth allocation especially between 5 and 11 pm. If you use Limewire a lot and download several GB per month I think Pipex get pretty tetchy with you. At one point I even had to buy a CD.

I upgraded once and noticed no difference at all. Sometimes I can get on and other times it says there is a firewall blocking it. Total pain the arse. I am with Pipex so thanks for that advice too.

You can probably download the pro version for free from the free version.
I'd rather buy zilla tube than limewire pro if you want it for music. It's not p2p and shouldn't suffer isp problems.

You have to pay for decent newsgroup access that would not appeal to most of the p2pers.

Yep, I use Azureus - now called Vuze or something for my torrents.
