Can someone explain the concept behind freezout.

Newbie - invited to a game with freezeout

freezeout means you pay in once when you lose all your chips your out
as opposed to a rebuy comp where for a period of time you can buy more
chips if you lose the ones you started to the money for the rebuy is added
to the prizepool and split between the winners
