Stealing seems optimum to me, if they don't steal you get the lot, if they do steal you're left with nothing anyway and you'll look less of a mug.

It's fairly basic and there is only 1 route to go:
1. It's +ve to STEAL
2. It's -ve to SPLIT
Work it out logically and you'll see why.
well that depends if you are on the show to win the highest amount of money you can regardless of the consequences. I would much rather take half (or nothing) but keep my integrity intact.
going on disposable daytime quizes already raises serious questions about ones integrity
there is only, and can ever be, one answer, take.
i understand what you're saying claire about integrity but i dont really know in whos eyes your integrity would still be intact, i'm sure when you got home you'd secretly be thinking: "FFS"!!!! and in the eyes of the viewing public the few people ive seen split have never really had the chance to have there integrity applauded such is the overwhelming -EV in splitting the veiwing publuc are to busy laughing at the screen!

I don't trust you, I'm going to steal - take split & I'll give you half, take steal we both get nothing & I see you afterwards
Ok, so assuming this was allowed, would those that choose this option then honour their promise to share, or would you keep the lot?
I'd give them their share. The promise on TV could be used as evidence in a court case anyway, but I'd not rip someone off, I'd take steps to avoid a ripoff though.

The winning method:
Lets say you get to the decision with £30,950
You propose that you both split the 30k and give the other 950 to a charity of jaspers choice,
would they steal from a charity on national telly me thinks not,
you then show the steal ball and are declared the winner
and then you say ill give the £950 to charity..
in the event that they steal then at least neither of you wins..
Would you then keep the 30k for yourself and do them out of 15k brudal sir brudal.I agree claw i couldn't be that harsh but would steal then give them half so they can;t steal and shaft me
damn right I'd keep it,all i have done is bluffed them off the pot

lol fair point. You wouldn't catch me on a daytime quiz show
Maybe using the word integrity was a bit strong, but I couldn't sit in front of someone and promise them that I was going to split the money with them and then steal the lot away. The only time I would consider doing it is if I was pretty sure they were going to steal from me. If I was proved wrong and they chose to split, I'd give them half anyway.

Yeah but then why not just steal everytime and then you don't have to get your judgement correct

We've had this discussion before, can't be arsed to find the thread.
On the basis it is against the rules to collude then you are left with these scenarios:
Split and get either half or nothing
Steal and get either all or nothing.
Steal!

flop and oppo has half 2/5ths of their stack commited and has say..
, you shove with
and oppo says: "sigh, i'm sure the board plays, you didnt play it like a fd, have you got it"?
would you feel ok about doing your best to get him to fold?

I don't think you can compare golden balls to poker - different kettle of fish in my eyes. I would see this as more akin to agreeing with someone that we'd chop it up at the end, but then doing a runner with the first prize money.

This is totally different though bolt as poker is a game where you are risking money to win more money and it's all about gamblng
This show is mostly joe publics looking to win a couple of dimes and be the most money they ever win in there life

yeah guys i understand why on the whole it's different but used this specific hand as an example because it's a split and could easliy go......check, check, instead of one person trying to scoop the lot so although the overal poker analogy isnt that comparitivly pertinent i think maybe a hand like this lends itself more to the idea of the goldenballs concept for people that are maybe uncomfortable as claire was with taking the lot when it could felicitously be a chop(although i get thet you dont like the speech play prior to the decision)

the other thing with the poker hand is that if you take it down you don't have to show
And before anyone says it, no I'm not saying I would still the cash if I thought I could get away without anyone knowing!
