Ladbrokes Poker Million.

I know there is much interest in this, so here's a Press Release the nice peeps Ladbrokes sent me this morning. I won't do my usual practice of humanising it, as, unusually for Press REeeases, it's pretty well written.

Here it is then.....

"....The Ladbrokes Six are all set for the Poker Million VII Final!

The Ladbrokes Poker Million VII is drawing to a close and what a corker it promises to be. This year the line-up has a decidedly Irish flavour to it, two thirds of the players hail from the Emerald Isle. Poker Million veteran and WSOP Bracelet holder Marty Smyth (Belfast), Liam Flood (County Kildare) who is also no stranger to Poker Million, new  kid on the block and recent ECOOP champion Eoghan O'Dea (Dublin) and Ciaran O'Leary (Dublin) a 2007  WSOP bracelet winner, join LEOCOP Masters Freeroll winner Kevin Allen (London) and perhaps the luckiest man in poker, Norwegian, Svein Nielsen who won the very last seat in the Poker Million VII semi finals in the Ladbrokes Chase the Chair Freeroll in November. Friends and family of the six finalists will be joined by Ladbrokes VIP's and guests to watch the live final today in a top London hotel. For those of you who have not managed to get your hands on a ticket to the hottest poker party in town , tune in to Sky Sports 3, which will be broadcasting the final live from 19.00. Edward Ihre, Managing Director of Ladbrokes Poker said: "The line-up will make for an excellent final. Who knows what happens when you get  two 'Poker Million' veterans, a couple of WSOP Bracelets holders, an internet champ who's running hot and a couple of Freeroll qualifiers.  This will be a poker game at its most extreme!" All players take the chips accumulated in the semi-final through to the final.

Chip count:

Ciaran O’Leary             339K
Eoghan O’Dea             339K
Marty Smyth                282K
Liam Flood                  237K
Kevin Allen                  224K
Svein Petter Nielsen     179K

Prize Money

First                           $1,000,000
Second                       $260,000
Third                           $175,000
Fourth                         $130,000
Fifth                            $100,000
Sixth                           $75,000

The 10 players that did not make it through to the final received $20,000:

Barney Boatman
Ross Boatman
Ryan Fronda
Kenneth Sorensen
Jonas Danielsson
Dave Ulliott
Roy Brindley
Anthony Hardy
Sammy George
Tony G....."

I need to recoup this weeks NFL debacle. Tho betting without the seat draw is prob not the best idea ive ever had.

Well variance really. I started the season and ran at 17 winners from the first 20 bets.To put that into perspective a 60% strikerate is very good. That was a ridic % and couldnt last and it didnt ;o).

I happened to find three losing bets from 4 last weekend so need to get the eye back on the ball and start doing what I was doing earlier in the season, backing teams with big starts is never a bad thing in NFL, you got so many ways you can cover even if they get beaten easily. It is just sometimes hard to bet a team getting say 17 start when you know they are gonna get beaten where earlier in the season confidence was sky high and they were almost jumping off the sheet at me for a while.

Just found this in my overflowing e-Mail Inbox, a little late, sorry, but it largely duplicates Ladbrokes earlier note.

POKER MILLION VII FINAL – 7PM SKY SPORTS 3

IRISH DOMINATE FINAL TABLE IN $1MILLION SHOOT-OUT

Two online qualifiers stand in the way of four Irish pro’s in the battle for the $1million winner’s cheque at Friday’s Ladbrokes Poker Million VII final.

Ladbrokes ‘Chase the Chair’ winners Kevin Allen and Svein Petter Nielsen both came through and join the familiar Irish foursome Liam Flood, Ciaran O’Leary, Marty Smyth and Eoghan O’Dea in the final, broadcast live on Sky Sports 3 at 7pm.

Allen was especially impressive in the first semi-final where he progressed along with Flood and O’Leary after getting past the Hendon Mob brothers Barny and Ross Boatman, heat favourite Jonas Danielsson, Ryan Fronda and Kenneth Sorensen.

Neilsen was largely passive in his semi-final, sitting back and allowing the explosive line-up to clash. Premier League Poker players Dave ‘Devilfish’ Ulliott and Tony G were the first two players to go and were followed by Sammy ‘Any Two’ George, Anthony ‘The Booky’ Hardy and Roy ‘The Boy’ Brindley to advance with Smyth and O’Dea.

O’Leary and O’Dea share the chip lead for the final which begins with the blinds set at the 5/10k level. Jesse May and Neil Channing will be the commentators on Sky Sports 3, while the final will also be blogged live at www.matchroompokerforum.co.uk.

FINAL TABLE LINE-UP AND CHIPS

Ciaran O’Leary 339,000

Eoghan O’Dea 339,000

Marty Smyth 282,000

Liam Flood 237,000

Kevin Allen 224,000

Svein Petter Neilsen 179,000

PRIZE FUND

1st - $1,000,000

2nd - $260,000

3rd – $175,000

4th – $130,000

5th – $100,000

6th – $75,000

Some proper liquidity on Betfair and it's going to go in running, which is good news.
Should be an edge in big all-in hands for those with knowledge of percentages, as long as it's a proper in-play market and not one of those with the three- or four-second clock like the X Factor.
My opening bet will be on Ciaran O'Really at 5.1. Big stack at the start and unlikely to hang around from what I've seen. Every chance of closing out early with this one.

* Grrr, 5-second spinny clock in-running
