Personally i wouldn't want to risk losing the right to our individual teams in the Euros and World Cup. I love the Scotland/England rivalry and the thought of being combined into one football team makes me feel ill. Rivalry is healthy and teaming up together for the Olympics ruins it.

and as has already been said, [ ] Olympic football is real football.

The way you feel about Scotland/England rivalry, and them joining up for Team UK...... is Exactly the same as how i feel about Celtic/Rangers Rivalry, and them joining up for the Scotland team.... I don't like it one bit!

Whereas i get shot down in flames for it at times ?

Not crazy about it but I will route for Team GB as I would England, as long as they don't really balls it up by insisting on a quota of Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish players. It should only be made up of the England under 21s the best players for the job. It should be a nice little run out for the players anyway and hopefully just a one off.

Seeing as each of those FAs is 100% against any participation in this abortion of an idea, you're pretty safe there. It will also ensure that the Scots, Welsh & Norn Irish will support this team as if it were England as well. There'll be no need for away fans at Wembley, just fill it full of brits, and bingo, one hell of an atmosphere from both ends.

Because the two are completely different perhaps? One is club sides player's stepping up to represent their (and your) country, the other is your country's players being asked to play for a combined other country's select side.

You actually don;t support your country becuase Rangers and Celtic players play in the team? That's bizarre, although in fairness there are more than a few Dons fans who now think that way too.

I wonder if as rumoured Fergie will get to the lead the team and whether this might help?

There is no way on earth Fergie will touch this, he's made his feelings clear in the past when asked whether he would consider managing England, this is no different, in fact it will to all intents be an Englsih team if it comes off, and it will make no difference to whether any Scots back the team.

i don't support my country because, i only support one team, and thats the team i was born into and raised to follow.

In my mind there is no room for two teams in peoples lives.

I Love Celtic, and i Dislike all things Rangers, Scotland play with rangers players, therefore im going to naturally dislike Scotland.......I just cannot bring myself to cheer on players from my rival club, i just can't do it. (How you can dislike a player one week, then like them the next is beyond me!)

No worries, it's the narrow minded stuff we expect from Old Firm fans anyway. It's really quite simple to understand though, one is club football, the other is international football. You are represnted in both spheres by different teams, until such time as Celtic beomes a country I would have thought it would be pretty easy to understand the difference, and how there isn't the slightest conflict there.

It should also be pretty easy to see (contrary to your post), that you are born into your country, but many people simply choose a club to follow. I've yet to meet an international fan that follows another country rather than their own.

Why aren't you called Celtic Dave then? The Scottish bit is clearly not something that has any meaning for you?

Mark Hughes will be out of a job soon, perhaps he can manage them.  Cheesy

I still struggle to see any issues with Team GB, but can't see me converting any one so won't waste my breath. I just hope that the Scottish players are "allowed" to play and there isn't a campaign against them taking part which would be a shame.

I find your last two lines desperately sad. Don't want to hi-jack the thread but that's the sort of thing that gives all old firm fans a bad name. I am a fan of both Rangers and Scotland, I have no problem supporting Celtic players while they are playing for my country and I wish them well when they do. The players who play for both halves of the old firm are the same as any other professional footballer. They are doing their best for the club that pays their wages.

Your argument makes no sense, because there are Celtic players in the Scotland team (I presume, could be wrong as I refuse to watch the Scottish Premier League) and therefore you dislike and wont cheer your beloved Celtic players as they represent their (your) country. You are really missing out on something special, and I dunno how you can call yourself Scottish Dave, it should be Celtic Dave or something similar.

I bet you wouldn't have the same attitude if you were an East Sterling fan, you'd be desperate to watch Internationals.

So if it were Scotland vs England and the Scotland squad was made up of a lot or Rangers players, who are you cheering for? Or at least, who do you want to lose more?

Easy.  Turn the telly off.

As for Daves post about disliking rangers ahem I hate them.  Just the way it is, I could never ever ever bring myself to support one of them.
